Best young actors?

I agree about Dakota Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. Jodie Foster was a great young actress (her performance in Taxi was very good). It's very difficult thinking of good young actors these days, they are rarely cast in important or impressive roles.

Look at the three main characters in HP, great entertainment factor, but Daniel Radcliffe is extremely wooden and you can tell (even in the third movie) that he is being fed his lines somehow.

Out of the three I would say that Rupert Grint has the better career ahead of him, he is funny, so he could be a comedian quite easily, it's the facial expressions.

Tatum O'Neil was a good 'young' actress in her heyday also.
 
She was the cute little girl in Taken, had a bit part in Sweet Home Alabama and was one of the lead roles in Man on Fire.

The boy who plays Draco Malfoy in the Potter movies gives an amusing performance. Not always perfect, by any means, but sometimes he hits a line absolutely beautifully, and seems to have some kind of screen charisma that makes him steal the few scenes he appears in. I always wish they'd make more of him, his presence in a scene seems to improve Radcliffe's acting too.

Agree Radcliffe isn't very good, but he does improve with each one, so hopefully by no. 7 he'll be brilliant!
 
The guy who plays Draco Malfoy is called Tom Felton. I think he plays the role perfectly! My favourite actor from the Harry Potter crew.



I heard that Jamie Bell, who was already mentioned here, also applied for the role. He's a great actor i think, maybe Radcliffe looks more like Harry Potter, but you can dress up any boy like Harry Potter. There were thousanRAB who wanted the role. i think Radcliffe acts okay.

I have a question: Are we actually talking about young actors or child actors?
I interpreted the topic as about acting talents who could become a big star, and so they could be aged until 25 or something.

Some people mentioned Jake Gyllenhaal, and I can only agree to that. The same with Haley J. Osment - what's he doing at the moment? I didn't hear much from him in the last time. I read that he did some synchronising.
To suggest somebody less known: I was amazed by Jordan Brower on the (little trashy) movie "Speedway Junky".
Some days ago I watched Bertolucci's "The Dreamers" and the young actress in the female leading role, her name is Eva Green, made a memorable performance. I usually forget quickly who did a good job if I don't know the actor, guess I remember her because it's not too long ago that I watched the movie.

Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Polley, Julia Stiles, Anne Hathaway could be very big if given the right material e.g. her upcoming film Havoc, Jena Malone, Heather Matarazzo, Dominique Swain if given better films
