Best Wii racing game for a little kid?

I took my kids to an arcade last week and my 4 year old LOVED all the racing games. It's all he wanted to play. So there are a few Wii racing games. I see 4x4 comes with a wheel which might be cool. I played Excite Truck at an EB and it was decent.

Anyone have any suggestions? Something that is fun but not real hard for a 4 y/o?
 
Yeah, went to Gamespot and they feel the same way as you do. Now I'm kicking myself for not buying the one wheel I saw at Target the other day. I think I'll get him Excite truck for Christmas and that wheel will make it pretty cool.
 
The wheel is like $20, you can get it with a game for $50 so I'm leaning towards GT Series which I don't think will be that good but at least comes with the wheel. Or I'll wait until a more fun game comes with the wheel.
 
I played excite truck the other day, and I think you have to tilt the controller rather than turning it (which I imagine is how the games packed with the wheel work), so it wouldn't really work with excite truck unless there's an option to change the steering somewhere.

what you could also do is just pick up mario kart double dash, and a gc controller or 2 for around the same price, and have one of the best racing games around(especially for kids), with an easy learning curve
 
Yeah, that might have been a good idea. I went to Target and they still had the wheel ($19, yikes) and Excite truck. I think it will work. I played that game at an EB and you hold it flat like you would that wheel (I think).
 
yeah, but with excite truck you have to tilt the sides down to turn, when holding the wiimote flat, whereas with the wheel you would, say, hold it out in front of you like a real steering wheel (so if the wiimote was in it it would be facing you), and if you tried to turn like a real steering wheel, it wouldn't work (I think). unless the wheel you're talking about is different from the one packed with gt pro series
