best way to remote synch text files

We have a route software on Tungsten T2. I have text files I need to synch from another city every night.
They are around 600k. The other office tried to modem synch. They had trouble getting connected. When they did, the 2 way file transfer took an hour using a Palm modem. Is there any software to make a remote synch go faster. Is a modem out of the question? We could copy the file and have the driver send it over the internet. Or is there an e-mail software we could put on the Tungsten T2 to do this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (while I wait in quiet desparation)

You should be able to sync a 600k file over a modem in less than an hour. I think the key would be to disable all the conduits except the one that's needed for the text file sync. Trying to do a full sync and backup over a modem can take a very long time. If you have access to a high speed connection, that would allow you to do a very fast sync.

Another option is to put the text file on an SD card. Copy the file from the SD card to a PC and e-mail it to the other office. Someone there could then put the file in the right folder on the server.

Thanks for the advice Jim. They reassured me that they had shut off the extra conduits but I wonder if they did it both on the modem and the handheld. We have looked at e-mailing a file as an alternative. I was hoping to avoid having a PC on the remote end but we may have to. I have never tried e-mail on a Palm via modem to ISP even though that was one of the main features of Palm device originally,I guess. Would you have any suggestions on an e-mail program. I use Aggendus but not the e-mail version. I guess I was hoping a modem synch would be as easy as faxing on a PC was with Winfax Pro. Evidently not.
Thanks again
Mark

You'll need an e-mail program that can handle attachments. The best one I've found is SnapperMail. In theory, you should be able to e-mail a 600k file on a 56kbs modem in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks Jim,
That sounds like what we may need. I've certainly heard of Snapper mail. With our attachment issue it sounds like a good fit.
Thanks
Mark
