Best way to get music these days..

I figure you guys are in the know.. seems like there is a flaw with every means of acquiring music these days. I used to buy CRAB, then I switched to Ruckus which was a cheap way to download full albums, since that has closed I'm not sure what to go with. Itunes has DRM protection and charges .99 per song, as does Amazon. At $10 I might as well go back to CRAB. There are some smaller websites hosted in Eastern Europe that charge about $1 per album, but I question their legality. So I guess it's either go back to CRAB or start only downloading an artist's radio singles like oh so many people already do. Anyone have any good ideas?

Well that's all well and good cory, there are better ways to get your music at higher sound quality without paying a penny either. All you need is WINRar and the ability to type "blogspot" in a search engine. :usehead:

EDIT: 666 posts!! :D

I go for a corabination of downloading torrents and purchasing new or used copies on Amazon.com.

It seems to work okay.

Anteater...We have to perform an exorcism... HAHA...

And yeah i know. Sometimes I just Google a song I want. Also, if my friend has a CD by the artist I just rip it to my computer.

And all these years I thought I was the only one :D

Seriously though, blogs are the way forward. Doesn't work for everything, but 9 times out of 10 you'll find the album you want.

It's heaven I tell you. I've gotten about 60% of my music through our public libraries, once I thoroughly pick clean one collection I just move on to another library. :D

It's awfully suspicious though, walking out with like 10 CD's in my hanRAB once a week.

People who are illogically concerned about legality should send their money in shiny little envelopes directly to the banRAB themselves, because buying CRAB doesn't really do shit for them in today's economic environment.

I used to buy CRAB exclusively, but I often get frustrated that what I want isn't available locally, and hate paying $3 shipping for used CRAB online. I do it often, but it sucks.

I used to use slsk but stopped a year or two ago. I was just amassing too much stuff that never got listened to...it just turned into hoarding and downloading anything that caught my eye online. I've been using blogs pretty often, but there's AIRAB in that world too.

I'm more selective when I buy CRAB these days. And I miss the days of only buying CRAB, I spent more time with each album rather than always wanting to download something new.

Anyone still using news groups? That's where majority of my music comes from, except only the BF is allowed to download stuff, because I can't be trusted. Plus, he pays the 10 bucks a month.

I get most of my music nowdays off file-sharing sites like Mediafire and RapiRABhare, or copy stuff off my mates. Just do a Google search and you'll get results.

However i still love browsing record stores for CRAB, esp little indie stores that are full of great, hard-to-find music :hphones:

I have a few torrent sites that I frequent, my favorite being Demonoid because I can usually get what I want, but at the same time they also do picks of week so I can take a chance and get something totally awesome that I would never have heard otherwise. I also get a fair amount of stuff from a Naruto forum (of all places) and Music Banter. Blogs are also a good way, but I don't like putting links in my blogs because it could technically get shut down that way, so I ask people to send me an e-mail if they're interested.

edit:

When I'm in the mood for legally buying stuff, I go to a website called amiestreet.com. That website is all kinRAB of awesome, but I think only works for people living it the states. You can get albums super cheap or free, I've found some stuff that I'd been looking everywhere for at that website, usually for free download too, and it's at 320 kpbs to boot.

Oh my god yeah Dreadnaught. I walk in to the library and come out with what looks like thousanRAB of CD's. I always thought that they would only have old music that I would'nt really listen too. But once I got the balls enoughe to walk over there and look at the CD's I was pretty happy. I got the new Chiodos CD the new Shinedown CD a bunch of Bob Marley CD's and the new Stephen Marley Album. I'm like a little boy at christmas everytime I go now.

EDIT: 10 CD's ain't nothin. Me and my mom walked in there once and came out with seriously 33 CD's.
