Best way to cook chicken or beef?

I always add onions to anything I'm cooking; cures bland.
Standard poultry spices are sage, thyme, & rosemary.
With the beef, use garlic & ginger.

recently I have started making this stir-fry style dish. I make a bunch of rice in my rice cooker, some frozen veggies, and some pre-cooked tyson chicken strips in the skillet with some jalapenos and its really good with soy sauce and i little shredded cheese. It may not be super healthy but its delicious and relativly cheap and will last the the whole evening.
The Problem is that the chicken because its premade tastes off kind of like plastic and whenever i just cut up chicken brests in to strips and make them the same way they just end up bland. Is there anything I can do to make them pop? Also I was thinking about trying the same dish but with strips of beef any suggestions on how best to prepare that?
