I have athletes foot and have had it for years. Ive had a lot of dead skin on it that I pick off. Today I notice my toe opened up like a big cut. It did not bleed but its a cut deep, way more than just a scrape. I have no insurance so I can't go to the doctor. If it gets too bad though I will go to the hospital. I notice black lines inside the cut but am not sure if its the fungus or infection. How can I tell if it becomes infected so i can get it treated promptly? And what is the best way to care for an open wound like this? I currently have it bandaged. Its on the toe next to my big toe.
