Best way to advertise my small business without spending alot or free?

I need ways to advertise my small business for little money or free. I looked into the local newspaper and things like that in the area and they want like $4grand a month! Its just ridiculous! (I WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER!!)
 
You could always try word of mouth, or register on some of the community sites like Touch Local.com
 
The cheapest way is spread the word but it will take time.
You can try to print some Business cards or other post card.
It also depend you want to do it locally or for bigger area.
Do you have a web sit for your business if yes you can try internet,
Go to different event in your area and promote your business
Thinks like that.
