Best Video on Phone?

I?m looking for recommendations on phones that do decent video (for European use, GSM, so tri-band/quad-band is preferred). My wife was looking at the Nokia 7390, sure it?s pink, but is the video any good? Is the Nokia N93 really that great, or just a massive phone with aging technology? The Nokia N95 is OUTRAGEOUS price, and I don't know if it is worth that JUST for video, IF it's better.

We (my wife and I) actually end up taking a lot of video on our phones, so it is the most important feature to us. So, I?m focused on video performance, even if the other features are lacking (lower res. still camera, etc?).

Some swappable memory, Mini/MicroSD or something, would be a nice feature.

If you have a suggestion, let me know, and point to a review if you can. Also, are there any comparison charts that anyone knows of?

PS: We?ve all heard the ?it?s a phone, not a camera? post 1000?s of times, give it a rest. We all know? It is a feature we use, it?s handy, it?s easier than lugging a big camcorder everywhere, it?s our choice, deal with it?

The N93 does have pretty good video.

As far as video is concerned, stay away from SE's, they tend to have really good cameras, but are completely lacking the video department.

The Nokia 6280 and 6233 have decent VGA recording, but it's limited to 15fps.

There are also some niche phones with good video, like the Xcute DV2 and I Mobile 902

Cool, exactly the kind of info I was looking for, I'll have to look up the Xcute DV32 and I Mobile 902. I'll keep the N93 in mind, and avoid Sony Ericsson!

Any other tips?

well, you should also note that the nokia n93 also records in vga and at 30fps, which is awesome seeing as most others are less and at qvga. Also SE does have one OK video phone, that is the w900i, which is discontinued. Just wait for the N95, if you have the cash or n93i

The ones I am looking at are the n93/95 as well because of the quality. The w900 is pretty good but it's QVGA (quarter VGA) which isn't "on par" with the two mentioned N series, while still good it won't be as smooth or as large as the ones that shoot VGA. (All three are 30 fps though I believe)

dude that phone got a SUPER review i just read. damn and i x'd the page agter i was done. well do a search its not hard to find. perhaps i may end up with a I Mobile 902.

N93 records videos at 30 fps great and clear quality. W900 records vids at 30 fps with decent quality, N73 also records videos with good and clear quality with 15 fps and u won't even notice it.

If you have 650-700 then get the N93
If you have any luck finding a W900 then go for it, maybe around 500-550
If you have around 420-500 get the N73 or N73 ME

or if you want to wait and have around 800-1200 then get the N95

The mics that pick up the sound on a phone are so close together, it doesn't matter if it's stereo or mono. It's going to sound pretty much the same regardless.

The one problem with the N93 is that it has an extremely fragile and flimsy hinge. Also the thing is a little bit on the big side and the screen is kind of small. Just my 2 cents from using it.

i have the n93i and even though ppl give it's 2 cents about it being big, poor battery life, etc. I love my N93i best video recording phone period. It has optical zoom with i never use cause the n93i tries to elimate the noise but muffling the sound when you zoom but nevertheless it has AUTOFOCUS MODE!!. plus you can output your home movies at 640x480 to you tv. the camera could be a bit better but still pretty good pics.

bottom line if you want a convient camcorder phone it's the n93. Just get an extra battery cause if you film all day it's gonna eat your battries pretty quickly.
