Best Use of Music in a Movie/Scene

I just saw this great movie it's called "Into the wild" and the music was amazing. My favorite song was the one they use at the begining and at the end of the movie, it's called "Guaranteed" by Eddie Vedder.

I loved There You'll Be, too. It fit SO perfectly.

And when Jamie comes down the aisle to Landon, Only Hope, by Switchfoot. I tear everytime I watch that.

Wind Beneath My Wings - Beaches - OMG, talk about non stop water works. I bawl like a blubbering whale. As soon as the song starts, that is all she wrote for me, I cry until the movie ends. Such a great movie and the song couldn't have been better.

There You'll Be - Pearl harbor - It begins when Rafe is flying Danny around at the end. gets me everytime.

It's Gonna Be Love - :thud: - The way Landon is looking at Jamie when he is placing that tattoo on her shoulder and the way she gives him that over the shoulde rsmile and the song playing in the car, such a great movie.

One moment I forgot to add that made me tear up when I was younger was during Casper... When Devon Sawa came down the stairs to Jordan Hill's "Remember Me This Way" :bawl:

To this day that song owns me because of what it meant for the movie. Why couldn't he go back???? So sad. :( Hehe.

Hi everyone, I´m Sara and I´m quite new around here :)

Well I think Moulin Rouge has a wonderful soundtrack, every song is so perfect i really love that movie.

I feel that Crash has very good music too, the song that is played in every montage is so beautiful, I loved it.

I really enjoyed the score of Harry Potter 4 i think every melody fit perfectly :sigh:

first thing coming to mind is Supermassive Blackhole in Twight. I dont like the song per se but it fitted the scene so perfectly.

and of course Let Me Sign in the same movie. it was so perfect for that moment. plus the song is awesome

and Love Actually - every music choice in that movie was a win

For me it's Wong Kar Wai's Fallen Angels during the ending part of the film. The music was Only You by Flying Pickets where Michele Reis' character drove off with Takeshi Kaneshiro. It's a brilliant scene that makes me want to be a filmmaker.
Here it is on YouTube. YouTube - [wkw] fallen angel

I also love every music inserted on Rushmore.

Score-wise, you really can't get better than There Will Be Blood. The first discordant chord, at the very beginning - what a way to set the tone of the movie! The percussion during the buildup and the explosion of the oil derrick is worth the price of the movie alone. And the end, with Brahms - oh, how ironic. And the rest of the score was quite incredible as well. I do love 'Prospectors Arrive', that's a great song on its own and in the context of the movie is even better.

Other notable scores include Amelie - part of the quirkiness of the movie comes from the score, really, and the music is great as a standalone as well. I listen to it fairly often on my iPod and it's lovely. :heart: The Hours has a good score as well. Philip Glass - not surprising. Oh and The Assassination of Jesse James, too - I'd give specific examples but I can't quite remember it offhand!

Music: Garden State, hands down. Perfect, just absolutely perfect. 'Let Go', obviously, but also 'The Only Living Boy In New York' was quite perfect. Other movies... hmm. The beginning of Stranger than Fiction, with 'The Way We Get By' (Spoon) was nicely energetic. 'Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes' by Beck, in the beginning and ending of Eternal Sunshine - at the beginning it just provides the background to the grief Joel feels, but by the end it becomes quite strangely uplifting and perfect for the movie.

Oh! And Romeo + Juliet has really good songs too, very appropriate - the bass beginning in 'Talk Show Host', when they first introduce Romeo all pensive at the beach? The mysterious feel of the song really suits Romeo at that point in time. Desiree's 'Kissing You' is about the most romantic song and perfect for the lovers meeting, and 'Exit Music' was powerful at the end. Best ending-credits song, ever.

that's a great one one. the sisters name was Alice and the brothers name was Uncas. i have the soundtrack and that ballad is my favorite out of the whole cd.

Titanic - beautiful score; I particularly love the theme called Rose in the "I'm flying" scene

X-Men The Last Stand - the music when Phoenix kills Xavier, and when Wolverine kills Phoenix, perfectly fits the tone of the scenes.

Moulin Rouge - practically every song in that movie is fitting for the scene.

Face/Off - I love rising music for the closing scene when the father (John Travolta) comes home and the mother and daughter realize it's him again

Pirates of the Caribbean - for me, nothing beats the music, called He's A Pirate in the end credits of the first movie when Jack shuts the compass. Fantastic piece of music, perhaps the best I've ever heard in a movie.

Pearl Harbor - I love the pieces of music called Tennessee and And Then I Kissed Him, very romantically fitting.

And last but not least, I think the score for Batman Begins is simply amazing.

I think all of John William's music works really well in movies like Star Wars, Jaws, ET - it can make you nervous like when Elliot is trying to get ET to his spaceship or when the shark is coming. It can make you sad like in ROTS when Anakin is killing all the jedi.

me too! i love this moment! :love:

to add, "Turning Circles" from Cutting Edge when Moira kelly's character was skating all alone in the rink and "Take My Heart Back from If Only i was :bawl:ing during that time! :cry:

~~~
First I would say Pan's Labyrith. It's just magical and haunting at the same time. It was such a big part of the movie. It made it even more sad and nostalgic.
I love Donnie Darko's music. It's old-fashioned but at the same it has this little touch of nostalgy the movie needed.
Fight club, it just gives the movie a lot of energy.
Cruel Intentions, not because it fits the movie perfectly, but just because it is good music.
But most of all, my favorite soundtrack is Requiem for a dream. There is no word who perfects every little tune is to the movie.
There are others for sure, I just thought about those..
I want to watch The Invisible, I'll look for that scene. That is one chilling song (I will follow you into the dark), I can imagine it's powerful when put in a movie.
Soooooo true both times! :nod:
Jack Sparrow's theme is timeless and epic.
Atonement is so romantic and always sad. Great music.
