Best twist in a film

Saw Identity just last night. Got the twist as there were a lot of clues scattered around the film. Still good though. One of my favourites is Unbreakable. Never expected a twist so didn't look for one. I was gobsmacked when I saw it.

Also Midnight Sting with James WooRAB is good even if you can guess what the actual sting is.

Primal Fear - that was a classic twist; devastating! Was that really Edward Norton?! He's such a great actor.
That one and The Usual Suspects are the 2 that come to mind for me.
And Matchstick Men - even though it's about con men, I didn't see it coming! And Just Cause.
I don't really want to read the rest of this thread in case there are films I haven't seen - don't want to spoil them!

The Usual Suspects for me as well, didn't see it coming, also loved the way the reveal was done. Donnie Darko completely wrong footed me as well, didn't see the ending coming, plus I burst into tears at the end (it's a wonder people still go to the cinema with me :o )

Fight Club is a good one too. RegarRAB the Usual Suspects, did you really

Guess that the whole story was being take from the wall behind the detective?

I'm impressed. :)

Re: Usual Suspects:
I noticed early on that most of what we "knew" was coming from Verbal, who could be making it all up. I also noticed he played a pivotal role in various incidents, and so was the key character. I didn't get exactly where his inspiration for names etc came from - that was just a detail really.

I think it is a weakness of the film that we end up knowing so little of what really happened. I find it a bit unsatisfying.

Lol, me too, that ending totally blew my mind for some reason.

My favourite twist would have to be Saw, my eyebrows hit the roof watching that for the first time, and it was a pleasure to re-watch it with my Dad and see his reaction.

There's also the twist at the end of Se7en which is good, despite someone having already spoilt the ending for me a few years prior to me seeing it. Somehow i managed to remember what they said happened though unfortunately.

And who can forget the twist of the 80's in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back!

Vanilla Sky

Id have had to undersood the film in the first place to have grasped any twist...sorry but that has to be one of the worst films i have ever seen, i almost want to challenge myself to watch it again to see if i missed something first time round!

One of my colleagus blurted out the 'twist' and so I have still not been able to watch this film as I can't forget what she said  (How do you forget......... :( ).

My favorite twist was Sixth Sense - brilliant!
