Best sports car for around 30k new?

I was thinking 370Z. Any opinions? I want a good performance car with a manual transmission that also looks good. Preferably NOT FWD

I vote for Miata as well. Test drive one and you'll fall in love. Don't listen to the people that say "miatas are for fags".

Nissan 370Z
Honda S2000 Ultimate Edition
Subaru Impreza WRX STi 330S
Mazda RX8 GT
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X
NISMO 350Z S-Tune

370Z: Being the latest model on the list, it does have some pretty decent tech bits up its sleeve and it's a very handy track weapon while still being more comfortable and better "dressed" than the 350Z it replaces. The looks are an acquired taste to some. Some critics preferred the 350Z's looks to the 370Z's but to me the fastback-esque style of the 370Z puts it high in my books in terms of its styling.

S2000: The pretty one of the lot, but not to be underestimated. This is one of the best iterations of Honda's acclaimed VTEC engine, it revs to 9000rpm and for a convertible it really does haul with 240hp to work with and a very very long modification list. It is one of the slower cars on the list but it's still a respectable cruiser and in its last year of production.

WRX: Also a late model car, the STi certainly does look a bit...awkward. But the Boxer engine is one of the finest four-pots built, and in the 330S trim, 330 horses are at your disposal which is on-par with the 370Z's power output. It is also one of the most reliable cars on the list and you actually get quite a bit of decent kit for your cash including leather sports seats and satnav. The all-wheel-drive system is one of the best in the business and makes it one of the fastest cars in this list on a track. Ignoring the higher-powered Lancer Evolution variants, it's also pretty quick in a straight line.

RX8 GT: Another pretty car, the Renesis rotary engine of this also requires more TLC and care than the normal piston engines, and while you do get quite a bit of shove, it also drinks a considerable amount more fuel than the others on this list (in fact, rivaling some V8s). The other major problem with the RX8 is that it is actually slower than the car it replaced, the RX7, which is mainly because the engine isn't turbocharged like its older sibling. But the suspension tune and tyre setup is superb. The previous-gen RX8 could keep up with a 350Z with ease.

Evo X: The STi's direct competitor. It is a bit slower around a track than the STi is, but depending on your tastes it does look better than the WRX. Certainly not the prettiest thing here though, but it is still a decent track weapon, faster around a track than the 370Z is (albeit not by much) and while you don't get as much kit as the STi you certainly aren't skimping on much.

NISMO 350Z: Because the normal 350Z is outdated now that the 370Z is around, the NISMO 350Z is more up to date than the standard car, and it also is the most "race-y". Beefed up bodykit, more power and a new suspension, tyre and brake setup make this a pretty formidable performance car. However, because it is setup for the track the ride is poor compared to the other cars on the list.
