Best sport/exercise for overall toning?

What is best for improving endurance and length strength? -I am 'in training', or should be
Also, for my own vanities what is best for toning up the torso? (I'm a female)

I was going to join a kick boxing class, do you think it worthwhile?
I run several times a week, skip and try to do situps but feel this is not enough to get me in shape for my challenge!

Any advice appreciated :) thankyou
