Best sound setting for rock music?

I've got my sound system set up. but for some reason the bass reverberates to much for rock music. any idea how I should tweak the setting for it to sound right? I've basically got a pioneer head unit, speakers, and a ground zero brand subs that fits under the passenger seat. thanks in advance for any help.
The model number is GZ-800 for the ground zero sub
