Best Serial Killer movie...

I agree with Manhunter. It's a bit stylised at times, but it's a fantastically atmospheric movie which really gets inside you and stays there. Much better than the 'Carry on Hannibal' series that came later.

'I'm having a friend for dinner, oooh Matron.'

Hi Cuttlefishspike,

yes i'm a regular visitor to crimelibrary.com, i'm working my through all the serial killers listed on there, but it's taking some time! i'll have a look through the other sites i have book marked and put the links on here later.

so where do you get your interest in serial killers from?

Seven has to be the best, due to it's social commentary. Morgan Freeman spenRAB half the film talking about the state of things today and the general horribleness of human beings, and then he finRAB out that the killer feels the same way.

Just had the misfortune to see a movie called 'nutbag'. Avoid. Stupid movie.

mess1 - have you been following the BTK developments. Glad they caught him - what a fascinating case!

The best serial killer books are by Harold Schechter which, despite titles like Deranged, Depraved, Deviant, Bestial and Fiend, are scholarly, non-sensationalist studies of people like Ed Gein, Albert Fish, H.H.Holmes etc.
Highly recommended and you can always get a seat to yourself on the bus if you're carrying one with the title showing. :D

Manhunter is a great serial killer film

I loved "Manhunter" far better than the other hannibal lecter films.
Havent seen Red Dragon yet so cant compare directly
Brian Cox was great as the original hannibal, Will Peterson(pre CSI) was superb as Will Graham

I remember loving the old Charles Bronson serial killer film 10 to midnight, don't know what I'd think of it now though. Also the old Dirty Harry films with Clint Eastwood were pretty good at the time.

Loved Saw & Natural Born Killers!

The Audition.

This very very pretty chinese girl saws of her victims feet and 8 of their fingers, cuts their tounge out and then keeps them in a sack. FeeRAB her victims by vomitting in bowl for them. was recommended by friend of mine and the images have lived with me since. very very wrong!!

Hi Cuttlefishspike, i have been watching about BTK, interesting case how he suddenly decided to resurface after all these years, i'm guessing that somehow he wanted to be caught, but still wanted them to come after him, rather than just turning himself in........

American Psycho
Monster
CopyCat (brilliant film)
Silence of Lambs Trilogy
Scream Trilogy
The First Friday 13th (broke new ground having a woman killer)
Murder in the Heartland (true story starring Tim Roth)

I may add more later
