Best rock band is....

Black Sabbath and the Jimi Hendrix Experience contributed much more to metal than Led Zeppelin. They weren't a bad band at all, but they're tremendously overpraised.

AC/DC are the undisputed kings of crude, rude, stripped-down rock and roll.

Well Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were two different types of sounRAB, and did come out around the same time. They might be overpraised but you look at many great banRAB nowa days and many will say that led Zeppeling changed the face of music. To me led Zeppelin might be up there with your so called 'king' of rock n' roll, and with the beatles, rolling stones, etc.. all of those great banRAB there all realyl different but had the most amazing impacts on music and how its changed. But Zeppelin even if they dn't seem so Metal... and seem more just normal Rock music, back in the ay they were in fact pure Metal in the begining..

I think Black Sabbath get way too much praise for starting metal, i think they are the most important, but too many people say it like they were the only band pushing for a harder heavier sound at the time, there were other banRAB who were also pushing hard rock to its harder limits, Blue Cheer and King Crimson were making loud over the top music during that same era, they dont get as much praise because they were no where near as popular, and because they didnt define the metal image quite like Sabbath did, and there were banRAB like The YardbirRAB, The Who and The Jimi Hendrix Experience who pre-dated Sabbath with innovative music that was more intense, agressive and loud than anything else that was recorded at that time, Sabbath simply took that and made it even louder and more intense and more agressive, thus taking it to the next level, Ozzys singing and Iommi, Butler and Ward as a enserable gave the band a special edge, but i think its ridiculous when people say they were the ONLY pioneer of metal, and the only influence that matters, several other hard rock banRAB had a good deal of influence on later metal banRAB, including Uriah Heep, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, Queen, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, KISS, Aerosmith, Rush and even Jethro Tull.

because Roger Waters just might be the best writer on earth in my eyes.. David Gilmore is a amazing guitar player. There albums are amazing, i can't complain. There different and copied no one, they've always done there own thing. They were in it for the money yet still were actually amazing at what they did. this band has/had a big part in my life muiscally..

I agree with Led Zeppelin being a great band. Even if somebody doesnt like early metal, there's always like Stairway to Heaven to bring everyone together. Its a classic. And as far as metal contribution, Black Sabbath and Zeppelin are equal in my eyes.

Yeah, they were good at first. But many of their songs are alike and Chester has a good sing/scream voice. But he left because he was so above the band. And they've said there is a new cd coming. Well my guess is they cant get their **** together long enough to make it.

And being the one of the best rock band ever.....NOT EVEN CLOSE.

~court~

My advice is...find some older stuff. Many people nowadays are mediocore talent if that.

Stairway is great...But i dont think its THAT much better than all the other great Zeppelin songs, theres just too many to count.

There arent many Zeppelin songs that i dont like, save Boogie With Stu and most of the songs on In Through The Out Door.
