Best plan?

I currently have the the $45 plan. I will be traveling to san fran this summer and other places. I dont think they have covereage in SF. Do they? Also if i go with the $60 plan and get the cricket market covereage and 200 min roaming can i still send unlimited texts? Or does this cost extra? Thanks to anyone to helps me out. CRICKET REPS?

Wow, just learned something even more interesting. Cricket said that to enable roaming you need to do *228 in your home calling area and that you cant do *228 outside your area. The rep said that if you turn off your phone then roaming is turned off and you have to do *228 again. Here is the thing that sucks, if you activate roaming, go on a trip outside your calling area and your phone dies or you happen to turn off your phone, roaming is deactivated and you cannot turn it back on (*228) because you are out of you home calling area. Which mean you are SOL if you happen to have an emergency or something requiring phone use...

txm didn't used to incur on your flex bucket, I used to check my flex bucket when I worked for corp. That was about 8 months ago, it may have changed. I actually ran out of roaming minutes and was still able to text though. I use my roaming alot, but I haven't ran out of minutes since the new plans. I test the turn your phone off deal this weekend when I get out of the city, mmmm fresh air

side note; my text did take a little longer and arrived in various orders in the middle of my existing txm

Mmmm. That turn off your phone may be a deal breaker for me. I have a 3 year old and always have to remain in contact. The fact tha the phone wont roam once I turn it off or the battery dies isnt good for me. It also seems like a lot tor roaming

That's freaking retarded.

I wonder if that's bad information.. I can't imagine why it would get turned off just because your phone died... Roaming should be controlled by the PRL, and the PRL wouldn't be reset just because your phone died.

I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can verify this info.. If so, that REALLY sucks.

I'm totally with you. Cricket hasn't yet perfected roaming.. I've had two trips this year where it would have been nice to have, and I couldn't get it to work for either trip...

SounRAB like if you roam, make dang sure you invest in a car charger..

I'm pretty sure it's a temporary thing though... We should have nationwide access soon. Amp'd wireless' entire network is run through verizon, and if they can work something out, cricket ought to be able to as well....

Ya, I am going into an actual store tomorrow to verify this. Having to roam, yet making sure that I take every step to make sure my phone stays alive (car charger, travel charger) just doesnt seem worth it to me. I hope I find that the info I was given tonight is wrong. I love Cricket and all but I may have to bid farewell if this is the case. Unfortunate but it is important

don't trust what is said by someone with a name badge, just try it yourself, cricket markets aren't that hard to get out of to try it. I verify tomorrow ,my family lives in the roaming areas

I'm on the $60 plan. My home market is in Utah, and to get my old Moto to work in Reno or Vegas, I had to *228 once while in Reno and once in Vegas. Then I drove out to Tracy California, another cricket market and the phone worked fine the whole way. I don't know about text messages, because I hardly use them. They seem like a gimmick to me.
