I have a 1986 chevrolet caprice with a Qjet and 305 only has 90K on it ,
And i was wondering if it was very important to put synthetic oil in it since the engine is almost brand new.
Im asking this because i hear all type of stories on oil some say pay the extra buck to get full syntectic and your engine will last longer. Some say that regular oil ( GTX or Penzoil) is as good as syntetics if you dont use it for high reving performance ect...
Plus some say that even if the owner guide says to use 5w30 i would be better using 10w30. Remember that i dont use the car in winter.
Me i say if i change the oil every 3000 K and put regular oil in it , i think its the same as a person that use full syntec but changes every 10 000K see what i mean ?. Ive put penzoil synetc in it but is it really necessary to pay teh extra buck or am i good with regular oil plus what about the 5 w or 10w.
Shure i could put amsoil at 13 $ a quart but i doubt that the longer oil life will repay the extra cost. I feel that repacing the oil more often is just as good as putting syntetic oil. What about gas millage and engine temp , once again people keep saying syntec will give you better millage and lower temp. I do about 50/50 highway /city with the car.
And also what is the best oil engine addtive for reducing friction in engines, ive used lucas before but really didint noticed much ,, maybe tufoil or bardhal ive heard that all they but in theses stuff is teflon.....
