Best of the original three?

When I was a kid, I would've gone with Rugrats, most definitely.

But now as I'm older, my pick is Doug. It was both funny and serious and I've been through a lot of what the characters did.

I chose the Rugrats because I remember watching it a lot more than the other 2. I remember seeing Doug, but I think it was the Doug movie and if I remember correctly, the movie was by Disney, not Nick. I never really watched the Ren & Stimpy Show. I've seen at least one episode of it, but not enough to remember much about it... or vote for it as the best of 3 old Nick shows. :D

Rugrats. The show was so different from everything else that was on and it was still really good. Most of the episodes were good, even after Dil came, the show remained good for a while, it was only right before Kimi came that the show got bad, but I still like it for nostalgia like Cheddar. Not that either Dil or Kimi were bad characters, the episodes just weren't good anymore is all. I liked Doug, but I can't comment on it because I haven't seen it in ages. And though some parts of Ren and Stimpy were good, I couldn't stand the voice acting or a lot of the nonsensical unnecessary gruesomeness.

Ren & Stimpy was more targeted for teens and adults. My mom never let me watch it because I was too young.

Rugrats had so many great ideas that were solidly good. Its the show that really got me into cartoons.

Dou is my favorite. I love all the problems he went through because they were life like. Skeeter and Patty Maonaise made the show even better. Pork Chop is the martest dog in the world. I loved Quail Man-wish they did a spin off on him

They kind of did when Doug got taken over by Disney; Brand Spanking New Doug/Disney's Doug did a Quail Man story every second or third episode.

Anyways, to answer the question, honestly all of the original 3 Nicktoons were just "eh" to me; the first Nicktoon I really liked was the 4th Nicktoon, Rocko's Modern Life, which trumps them all, IMO. Rocko was then and is now my all-time favorite Nicktoon.

Tough choices. I watched all three religiously as a child. On one hand we have Ren and Stimpy which had a distinct visual style, crass humor unlike it's time, and two characters who have a severe dsyfunctional partnership with one another. Armed with crazy situtations (and the occasion Powder Toast Man episodes), it kept me entertained for a good while.

With Doug, I had a character I still find myself able to relate. While I'm not mild-mannered in any sense as he is, his active imagination and the ability to put it on pen and paper is what drew me to him (pun probably intended). Armed with a quirky, uniquely drawn cast, the show had a lighthearted sense of drama and comedy that worked perfectly. It was like a breather show you could watch after something intense.

And Rugrats. I could care less for any episodes that came after the first movie, the seasons before were where it is. In an overall long run, I think this show would be the one I'd choose over the other two. Other then the vastly interesting concept (who'd have thunk babies would make good television material?), it's the character's interactions with one another as well as their crazy and oftentimes surreal adventures that intrigued me (Tommy's solo journeys that's usually wordless were some of the best and a good look at how babies might perceieve the world).

But mostly, it's Angelica. She's an obnoxious little devil in plain sight and her personality is one of the prime reasons I can't stand a lot of children, but being the first manipulative jerk I've come across, I enjoyed all the little mind games she played on the babies; I enjoyed her reeking in her victory, I enjoy how she can twirl circles around her parents, and yes, I even enjoy her comeuppance (because she deserves 'em).

So, there ya go. My two cents.

I said Rugrats. It used to be my obsession and I still get a kick out of the old episodes. My second choice would be Ren & Stimpy since that is a show that I like to watch in moderation. I never really watched much Doug (ecspecially Nick's version).

I'm with you. I liked the original Rugrats a lot. But Doug...there was just something about that show. A kind of honesty, a total lack of smarminess, an earnestness...a Yellow Submarine kind of playful funkiness...qualities that I guess have no place in Nick toons now. But I sure miss it...

It's a tough choice between Doug and Rugrats. Before the new episodes came, I thought that Rugrats was a pretty good show. In the end, I would choose Doug. I liked how Doug was so imaginative with writing in his journal and deciding how to solve his problems with his imagination. He actually made writing in a journal look cool. I never could get into it since I just relived more of the bad things than the good things that happened to me. Besides that, one of my favorite Christmas specials that Nick ever did is from Doug. I know have that video tape somewhere around my room.

I hated and still hate Ren and Stimpy with a passion. I did find it hard to choose between Doug and Rugrats, though. In the end, I went with Doug because I found it more original than Rugrats. I remember being young and still getting slightly bored at some of the episodes, because they repeated the same themes a lot. Doug I thought was simply cool.

I regrettably watched the least of Ren and Stimpy. I'd walk in and the last five minutes would be airing, so I couldn't pick it. Loved Rugrats, but being a little kid, I rathered looking at teenagers than babies, so I pick Doug.

Hey, wasn't Rocko and Real Monsters an original as well?

While I liked all three on opening night in '91, it was Ren & Stimpy that I liked the most. Its humor style influenced my own creations for a time, too. I get the impression that there aren't many R&S fans on this board. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's just how it feels sometimes. They didn't debut until 1993 and 1994, respectively. We're just talking about the original three that all debuted on August 11, 1991.
