Best of 2000s Christmas specials?

As long as it's the holiday season, *and* the end of a decade, thought this might make for an interesting topic (sparing you all my annual "Christmas cliches" thread ;-) ): what're your choices for the best (and worst) Christmas specials/episodes from this decade?

Favorite ones:
- The Powerpuff Girls' "Fight Before Christmas": one of the high points of the latter episodes in the show's run.

- George of the Jungle's Christmas episode: amusing for the "Christmas Carol" parody being reversed (in getting George to *stop* celebrating the holiday for everyone's sake).

- 6Teen: Deck the Malls... funny, especially with Caitlin's breakdown in tears (and her "I *LIED*!" in response to how "easy" it was to plan for Christmas). Also funny: the part where after the heartwarming holiday ending, they cut to the day *after* Christmas and realize, erm, the 26th's downsides retail-wise... :-p ("Eww! *Boxing Day*!")

- Aqua Teen Hunger Force: The "Ghost of Christmas Past" one. Ludicrous but hilarious "story" about the "origins" of Santa was funny, as well as Danzig moving next door (and Carl's reaction to showing him the house), and Meatwad's reaction to that "story" ("what kind of Christmas is that?!")/then later explaining what happened to Frylock (who fell asleep :-p )... and Shake easily summing it all up in one sentence to Carl.

Least favorite ones:

- The Legend of Frosty the Snowman: Not remotely as bad as "Frosty Returns"'s awfulness, but this one wasn't a worthy sequel either. Frosty came off sounding/behaving a bit like Patrick from "SpongeBob SquarePants"...

- Futurama's Christmas episode: Granted, wasn't the biggest fan of the series, but the Christmas episode with an "evil robot Santa" didn't do much for me either. Sorry...

-B.

+1 for 6Teen :) I wish then the creators of 6Teen could do a "Total Drama Christmas" to see how Chris, Chef Hatchett and the TDI/TDA contestants would had celebrated Christmas ;)

-Kappa Mikey: "A Christmas Mikey", they founded a good way to merge the "It's a Wonderful life" plotline (Mikey wishing then he never won the winning ticket to be part of LilyMu) and "a Christmas Carol" plotline (Ozu receiving the visit of the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future) in one episode.

-Totally Spies: "Evil G.L.A.D.I.S. Much?" Some moments of humor and action in a TS episode set during Christmas when the Spies celebrate Christmas at the WOOHP headquarters

-South Park: "A very Crappy Christmas", one of the first Christmas specials of the 2000, when the SP kids including Cartman try to spread the Christmas cheer around the town by showing an animated movie. That movie contened some footage from the pilot "Jesus vs Santa" (I would like to include "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson" but it was broadcasted in 1998, close but no cigar)

-SNL's TV Funhouse: Robert Smigel and his staff did a good TV Funhouse who spoofed the Charlie Brown Christmas special and uptated it a bit. I wondered what Charles M. Schultz would had taught of this if he was still alive when SNL aired the Charlie Brown Christmas special spoof?

There really has not been many good animated Christmas specials since the turn of the decade, the only one that really comes to mind that has really touched me has been the Chowder special from last year. I kind of like the Robot Chicken ones as well, but they are not really in the same catagory IMO.

This generation has definatly lacked when it comes to holiday specials and movies, I don't think we will ever see another true classic come down the pike again.

"Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Island Of Misfit Toys": Despite what people say about it, I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

"Robbie The Reindeer in Legend Of The Lost Tribe": I love Robbie the Reindeer, 'nuf said.

"The Simpsons, 'Tis The Fifthteenth Season": One of the best Simpsons Christmas Specials of the decade. "Simpsons Christmas Tales" was good but I really hate "Kill Gil Volumes 1 and 2".

"South Park, Red Sliegh Down": It was pretty funny!

"Family Guy, A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas": One of the most memorable holiday specials in TV sitcoms.

"The Powerpuff Girls, 'Twas The Fight Before Christmas": Fun to watch.

"Futurama, A Tale Of 2 Santas": Really great episode. The only downside is that John Goodman didn't return to voice Santa.

"Veggietales, St. Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving": 'Cuz we must remeber the true meaning of Christmas; The Birth Of Santa. LOL! Just kidding. I really mean The Birth Of Jesus and bringing the joy of giving.

"I Want A Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown": Great special and continues the roots and tradition of Peanuts.

"Prep 'n' Landing": The best Christmas special of 2009.

"Chowder, Hey, Hey, It's Knishmas!": Very heartwarming.

The Spongebob Christmas was pretty good. The musical bit was insanely catchy and we got a pretty heartwarming moment at the end, from Squidward of all people.

And every South Park Christmas was good, but the one I really like is "Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics."

If were talking about the past than I loved the PowerPuff Girls one and the old Sponge Bob one, it did have a weird but good song and a good moral to it.

I liked the 6Teen Christmas episodes (I'm sure there were 2 of them, one where they get stuck in the Mall and the other one where Nikki leaves on a trip with her parents).

Were 'Olive the other Reindeer' and 'Santa Baby' aired this decade? I thought they were decent and could have used some reruns the following years.

As for other specials... I think 'The True Meaning of Crumbfest' aired in this decade. It and the serie it spawned were pretty good.

Doesn't feel like Teletoon is airing a lot of Christmas special so far this year...maybe next week.

I'm not sure about "Santa Baby", but Olive the Other Reindeer aired in 1999. Though, I would count it as a great contemporary Christmas special. I always loved the book and seeing the special had even more enjoyable qualities to the story.

Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys: I thought that this was a cute and fun movie. Not as great as the older specials, but it still has a warm Christmas feeling to it.

I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown: I've always enjoyed Peanut specials and this is no exception. It was a cute story and it was nice seeing Spike again in animated form.

A Johnny Bravo christmas was pretty funny, I enjoy seeing it every year in Cartoon Network.:)
But the best is definately a toss-up of either Spongebob's or Blly and Mandy's as both were funny and fresh in the field of christams specials.:D

Arthur's Perfect Christmas. A pretty good plot with great music. I had the soundtrack and adored it. Still do. Least favorite? Three words: SHREK THE HALLS.

Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle, definitely.

Nicely subverts the "greediest-character-on-the-show-finds-the-Christmas-spirit" trope. I also liked the buildup to the manger scene with the Kankers at the end.

Best:
  • "Deck the Mall" (6teen) - I pretty much agree with what was said.
  • "A Very Possible Christmas" (KP) - This show had problems when it came to holidays (Halloween, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day), but everything works beautifully here. A good plot and some of the funniest lines in the show's history.
Worst:
  • "The Fright Before Christmas" (DP) - It's almost like someone said, 'What if we did a version of "A Christmas Carol", but the ghosts were jerks instead of Scrooge?' An interesting idea, but thoroughly botched here. It's starts with baby Danny getting urinated on by a dog. Surprisingly, it only gets worse from there. Danny gets stuck in a story until he learns the holiday spirit, and really, nothing says getting the holiday spirit quite like having your friends and family turned against you for ruining the holiday. This episode is a perfect example of how "Danny Phantom" would've been a great show (and wholly deserving of its 'best of the decade' status) if it weren't for the writing.
  • "Woodland Critter Christmas" (SP) - Unfunny and dull. Not to mention one of the best examples of how the show has come to lean way too strongly on the whole 'Cartman hates Kyle' thing.
  • "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas" (PPG) - The idea of Princess Morebucks (whom I cannot stand) switching the nice and naughty lists was a moderately interesting one. Unfortunately, the lesson that 'Grim Adventures of KND' just barely learned completely escaped the makers of this: if you're going to have a story where people just accept something that anyone with a brain realizes to be false, don't draw it out unnecessarily. This story should've been over and done in a half-hour, if not 15 minutes.
  • "Christmas Every Day" (FOP) - Maybe, this was the beginning of the end. The first episode of this show I didn't laugh at. A lot of these half-hour episodes (and the hour-longs, for that matter) strain for story, like the writers are still stuck in 11-minute mode. Also, the songs bite, not helped by Timmy's grating singing voice.

I liked the PPG's "Fight Before Christmas", but agree it dragged out too long in some parts.

"Christmas Every Day" is one of my least favorite Christmas special plots (feels forced, feels like some bad Star Trek time anomaly, and usually requires something obnoxious/illogical/saccharine to break "free" from it... all reasons, among others, I never cared for its cousin "Groundhog Day" (the movie, and TV shows using the same plot)), so didn't care for the FOP one much, though interesting everyone knew Santa existed (odd that St. Nick needs the fairy's magic to complete his rounds though... or that bit at the end where all those kids see Timmy with his fairies plain as day).
