Best o' the Best 2008

I stole all the categories from Anime Insider's list last year, so some of them were probably made just for some anime from last year. Hopefully I beat them to it this year, if they're even doing it. I haven't read it in months, so can someone confirm or deny that? If so, did I beat them? Thanks. Vote for your favorites from the past year in any or all of these categories:

Sorry to double post, but... really? There was no anime in 2008? Here's some more categories: Best Anime on the Internet and Best Anime on Crunchyroll.

Well I'm a homer, but for "Best Giant Robot", I'd have to go with Gundam 00 for now. That is if it means "Best Giant Robot Anime", or just the giant robot itself. I'm not sure. Either way, it's just been really good. There are a ton of categories there though, so if it hits me, I might answer all of em. There's been a TON of J-POP Albums, and to pick my favorite right now would be hard.

For best video game AND best dub, I'll go with Valkyria Chronicles. The cast all fit the setting and the mannerisms of the characters. And Hedy Burress' rendition of "A Love Passed On" was a wonder to hear. The game itself is had a mixture of an action RPG and your traditional strategy elements. You can make your soldiers run around freely in the battlefield (until the guage runs out) and it quickly turns into a quick (really quick) third person shooter. It plays well, and it looks good. The story is well written and the characters are easy to connect to. Hell they felt like real people. It also marks the first time I actually cried for a video game character. I've never cried for a character that much. Ever. Until now.

True SEGA magic here.

Coolbeans. Well for "Giant Robot Itself", I think I'll stick with 00 since I'm a loser, and go with the Exia. That thing is just so badass. D:

Also agree with Valkyria Chronicles. I loved that game.

For best video game of the year, does it have to be one of those Japanese RPG's with anime style cutscenes, or can it just be any Japanese game? Because, if that's the case, then Ninja Gaiden 2 gets my pick for best game, and for any of you haters out there, I would just like to remind you that the only people who hate Ninja Gaiden are the people who suck at it.

As for best dub of the year, I'm going to have to go with Ouran High School Host Club.

I think "Best J-Pop Album" should just be "Best Soundtrack" or something, and "Best Shojo" should be dropped, since, unless I'm mistaken, most Shojo would fall into one of the other categories.

Fixed for accuracy. I seriously doubt most of the people who play the new games could beat the old games, because that requires, you know, actual skill.

If there are any other categories where the nominations would be spoilers, just put them in spoiler tags. If you aren't sure, you can ask me. What was the nomination for Best Death you had (in spoiler tags if necessary)?

Best dub, best death
