Best non talking cartoon babies

What are your favorite animated non talking babies? The reason I am only looking to discuess non talking babies, is because talking babies have an unfair advantage, Stewie Griffen for example, he is so awsome, comparing him to a typical baby is just not fair. Just to clarify, by talking I mean characters that know enough words to engage in a conversation.

Here is my list, it is basic. Characters off the top of my head. They are there because they funny and cute by just being babies.

Pebbles Flintstones (The Flintstones)
Bam Bam Rubble (The Flintstones)
Maggie Simpson (The Simpsons)
Baby Poff (Fairly Odd Parents)
Sweapie (Popoye)
Himawara Nohara (Crayon Shin Chan)
Hana Stoppable (Kim Possible)

Even though I couldn't think of any animal characters, animal characters count as well.

I certainly agree with Maggie and Hima (as they're so cute and surprisingly resourceful), but WHY do you like these characters?

Seriously, is this your first day at the site?

Well isn't it obvious, they are cute and funny. Basicly that is all non talking cartoon babies do. I thought explained before I listed this.

I have does list like these before, and I have always tried to give reasons. I thought if was self explainatory, but I appologies for my goof.

Sorry if I forgot, or if it didn't become clear.

I actually never understood Maggie's purpose in the Simpsons. She seemed to be left alone and never on-screen. There are maybe like, 4 or 5 times she served a good and spotlight purpose, but considering the Simpsons has had 400 episodes or so, that's not even a drop in the bucket.

And I know you said "No Talking Babies", but I just have to throw out Baby Captain Hero as awesome. I used to think Captain Hero was overused and annoying, but after seeing Drawn Together Babies, I got over that and Hero became one of my favorite characters.

I did like Baby Dexter in Dexter's Lab too, but he started to talk/sing in the episode he was in. I still liked him even when he didn't talk, though. :c

I can't really think of a lot of cartoons that have non-talking babies that I like.

Basically-- you need to explain your particular choices. Listing off a bunch of characters makes this a list thread-- and unless choices are explained, theres a good chance the thread will be closed due to the List Thread Rule posted at the top of the General Animation board.

My favorite non-talking babies are:

Josie Small from Home Movies
Although she never talked, she would often play a role in other people's actions in the series. Basically that, "I can't do that because I have a baby" mentality. Also, the episode Mortgages and Marbles couldn't have happened without her, and that is one of my all time favorites.

Don't put marbles in your nose
Put them in there
Do not put them in there!

Babies who are not Stewie in Family Guy
It's always been great to see Stewie get really pissed as he tried to react with regular babies in Family Guy, such as that episode where he fell in love with the baby girl at the daycare. Hilarious, not to mention totally original.

I know I'm going to sound like a killjoy by saying this, but here it is: I don't like non-talking, non-fantasy babies in cartoons. Characters like Maggie Simpson, Baby Kate on Arthur and their ilk, I always find myself wondering why they're on their respective shows at all; they're complete cyphers who contribute nothing. Toon babies who can't talk, aren't super-geniuses or lack magic powers are just boring to me and serve no purpose other than the regulatory "Oooh-aah, look at the cute little baby!" moments or tired old poop jokes. So I don't have a favorite character in this category.

Maggie plays a bigger role in the earlier (pre-season 8) episodes of the series, but latter episodes (past season 7) seemed to either ignore her or forget about her entirely (see: "Scenes From the Class Struggle in Springfield"; the family drives 400 miles to buy a new TV and do other stuff, but Maggie doesn't appear in *one scene* until the big dinner at the end of the episode!). Granted, I stopped watching around 2000, so guess not surprised if the 2000s episode writer write Maggie as, erm, "well" as everything else....

Bam Bam Rubble: I always found the super strong aspect of the character to be funny, plus his interaction with Pebbles.

Alexander Xanatos: Can take possession of someone, capable of strong magic and attempts to say harassment (Hunter's Moon Part 1)

I agree with what was said here earlier regarding Maggie Simpson. I never thought that The Simpsons needed Maggie at all. Except for one standout performance in one Tracy Ullman Show short ("Maggie in Peril") and 1 or 2 bits on the show, Maggie served no purpose whatsoever. Often, she would be off camera doing nothing worth mentioning.

Same deal with Baby Kate on Arthur. Another unnecessary character. Kate also serves no purpose because the show already has an annoying little sister character in the form of D.W..

Any reason why?

What I liked the best about Jack-Jack was that he made the funniest baby noises in the movie. What happened in the animated short was also hilarious.

I don't get why Maggie's not getting any love in this thread. The girl's saved Homer's bacon on SEVERAL occasions, including at the end of The Simpsons Movie. She's also the one who shot Mr. Burns, and is the only happy thought that keeps Homer going while slaving away at the plant. She serves several purposes on the show, even if she's not in the spotlight often.

As for non talking babies, I have to add Dil from Rugrats, at least pre-RR in Paris. I always found that baby so adorable, and even bought the talking doll that they made for the original RR movie. Plus, who couldn't love a baby named Dil Pickles?

I've always like Swea'Pea from the Popeye cartoons....Wait! Swea'Pea doesn't count because he talked in one of the cartoons (where he sings the "Popeye the Sailor" song at the end)

Regardless, he was a pretty fun character, part of the time because either it ended up with Popeye getting brutalized and part because it raises the question on where the heck he came from.

If listing of characters without explaining choices continues, warnings are going to go out to those who continue to ignore the rules, and posts will be deleted.
