Finally through a year of my NE2 contract with the god-forsaken Samsung Glyde. As I'm sure has been ranted about on these forums since it came out, the Glyde has been the single worst cell phone experience I've had yet. I just got the software upgrade to fix the supposed "touch screen" on the Glyde and it made no improvements. Still awful; and I'm about ready to throw it into the street or put it on the grill. Now that I'm done venting, on to the real topic.
My cell phone needs are simple: I like to text a lot and send pix/flix messages, which my plan has already taken care of; and the only other thing I would use that I have never indulged in is unlimited internet. I don't want internet for E-mailing or GPS navigation, but rather just simple browsing and surfing the web while I'm not at home or near a PC - maybe watching videos on youtube if that's even possible. I've been hitting various VZW stores around town to see what my options are and haven't gotten a lot of help, so I've come here. What I did find out at the retail stores, though, is that unlimited internet costs $15 for non-PDA/Smartphones, while it's twice as much at $30 for PDA/Smartphones.
1. As far as I'm aware, the only difference in unlimited internet service for a PDA compared to a non-PDA is that you can access E-Mail on PDAs. Is this true, or is there more that I'm missing?
2. With these things in mind, what would be some of the best **non-PDA** options for me?
***Important note: For obvious reasons I'm very wary of buying another touch screen phone. I would much rather have something with buttons/keyboard that is easy to use and doesn't make me want to snap the phone in half. This is why I'm having trouble narrowing options down, as most new non-PDAs seem to be touch screen.
Thanks in advance.
