Best Music from a Film

I would have thought most of you would have said the well known musical films, such as Grease, FootLoose, Oliver!, Annie, West Side Story etc.

I am going to say, best score is Back to the Future.
However, the best songs from a film I am going to say is 'John Parry - Restless Heart' from the 'Running Man' which is mostly always uncredited but a class song.

Be remiss not to mention the scores of Jerry GolRABmith, who provided the music for some of the greatest films ever made.

Worthy mentions, where the score stanRAB as a classic piece in itself would be The Omen, Planet of the Apes, Alien, First Blood, Star Trek The Motion Picture...even Supergirl (!) had memorable scores.

My first thought was E.T.
but all of John Williams scores are so great. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws.

My favourite composer is Danny Elfman.
Batman, Edward ScissorhanRAB, Gremlins, Beetlejuice

Shocked to see the absence of the maestro of film scores - John Williams, being mentioned here. My personal favourites of his, in order;

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Superman the Movie
3. Jaws
4. Schindler's List
.....plus practically all others; Raiders, Jaws 2, Jurassic Park, Star Wars etc. Rarely ever produced a poor score.

Then notable (non-Williams) others, would be;

Danny Elfman's Batman, James Horner's score for Titanic, Aliens, Star Trek 2&3, Zimmer & Newton-Howard's Dark Knight. I could go on, but these are my cream of the crop.

Flash Gordon (the whole album, not just the single Flash)
28 Days Later
Requiem for a Dream
Gladiator
Some of the score from Plunkett & Maclean
The Royal Tenenbaums
