Best Movie Twist

I love films with a great twist at the end or that suprise me and are unpredictable. So what's your favourite movie with a twist, any recommendations?

The main one I think of is Lucky Number Slevin, I loved this film and although I sussed the twist at the beginning, I dismissed it soon after, only for it to be right at the end, but totally unexpected

I've never watched the Crying Game, may have to give that a whirl and The Usual Suspects I think I've only watched a bit of it, so a couple there.

I've seen the other ones mentioned, the Sixth Sense someone I worked with ruined before I watched it. She was one of those people who go 'oh and you'll never guess what happens at the end' followed quickly by what actually happened at the end:mad:

The trouble being that once you know the film you're watching is famous for having a twist of some sort, then it either becomes glaringly obvious right from the start, or else you spend the whole time waiting for it to come and looking for it all the time.

Twists really only work best when you've no prior knowledge that there is one, let alone any clues as to what it might be. You then have a huge urge to tell everyone about it, not worrying about the fact that you've largely ruined it simply by mentioning that there is one.

Perfect Stranger took me by surprise. Mainly because I had no idea there was going to be a twist.

Apologies for ruining the surprise for those that haven't seen it yet.

Another vote for the Others, fantastic twist.

Also the Sixth Sense, I genuinely never saw it coming.

Atonement was good too, I hadn't read the book beforehand so had no idea of the outcome...

First one that got me many years ago was The Sting.
I was convinced everything had hit the fan when the guns came out.

another was the orignal version of The Vanishing.
did not see that ending coming at all

I wish I had watched this without knowing the twist, totally wouldn't have thought of it, good film.

The Orphanage was the latest one to get me, I didn't know about what happens towarRAB the end, didn't even come into my head. I bet if I had known I would not have cried at the end. No impact.

I knew about all the Saw movie twists, but the first one still had the best twist if you don't know about it. Still powerful even if you know, well it was for me. The music helps in the scene. Best thing about the movie.

Another vote for atonement, I hadn't read the book so was shocked. The scene with the old woman is so powerful for some reason, I was in flooRAB because I didn't want the twist to be true.

Another vote for The Usual Suspects, Saw and Fight Club

Can I also add to the list: The Village (the first twist I had guessed early on, the second twist I did not expect), Memento (I was too busy concentrating on the backwarRAB format, to even guess there would be a twist!), Matchstick Men, The Thirteenth Floor, Les Diaboliques (the French original, not the US remake - that ending shocked me and creeped me out at the same time)
