Best metal 2000-present

what's the issue with them? is it that you just don't like the whole metalcore genre in general or just this band? i can't say as they really do anything groundbreaking but you can't deny that alissa gluz-white has an amazing voice. i've always been a fan of female fronted metal banRAB, as long as it's good mind you, and this band in my opinion is one of the better ones of the genre.

Kataklysm has not been sick as of recently. Actually, they sound like every other melodeath band to come out besides the fact that they're supposedly "hyperblast" or whatever the ****. Old school Kataklysm (i.e. MGoR, Sorcery, Temple of Knowledge) is the only good Kataklysm

It's really not that important but I have to admit it's something that's been bugging me with some of the replies in this thread. Thats down to me of course that **** like that would bug me, it just does. You will notice that a lot of people have mentioned Opeth in their replies.

It says in the first post that this thread is for banRAB of the last decade ie 2000 onwarRAB. Not albums but banRAB. Opeth were established before 2000. Established being the key word in that sentence. Regardless of whether an individual prefers their 90's stuff or their stuff post 2000 I think its hard pushed to claim that a band with 4 albums in the 90's and 5 in the 00's would be considered a band of the current decade rather than the past.

I think grey areas only start to appear where a band releases a debut record toward the very end of a decade, especially if they then go on to greater commercial success in the following decade. Opeth may be more commercially successful now but 4 albums between 95 and 99 establish them as a band of the 90's and therefore eligible for discussion in a thread about 90's metal banRAB. There probably isnt one, but you get the picture.

I think Dark Tranquillity has been a top band for awhile now, and are still pumping out quality music.

Protest the Hero and Meshuggah are pretty good though too.

Just to let everyone who's into the whole black/thrash thing know, Absu's self-titled album has leaked. I think its up there with Tara but one can't really judge an album after two listens, so I'll make my final decision later on. It seems to have a lot of riRAB reminiscent of the 80s german thrash scene. Really awesome stuff tho!
