His inclusion of beautiful luxury houses in his films always intrigued me.
Did he ever say,what/where his fascination stem from?

Ferris Bueller, which is definitely in my top 3 favourite films of all time.

Followed closely by The Breakfast Club.

I think it's also sad that Hughes and Candy reportedly fell out and they never got to make up before Candy died. There's an article here on the subject.
