Best intro anime series???

So lately I have been introducing anime to many people I know... I have started them out with many different series... One person I started her with Rumbling Hearts.. Another I started her with Elfen Lied... What do you think is a good series to use to introduce anime into an anime virgins life?

Well Id probably say Burst Angel, it's not new nor really old and it's not really hardcore or anything either. I would also recommend Soul Eater. How could you start your friend off with Elfen Lied lol, that show is just down right insane for introducing someone to anime. That's like me introducing Gantz to someone for their first anime, then they look at me and say "wtf did I just watch" rofl!

Can't beat Cowboy Bebop as an intro anime, though it could have an adverse effect, and make the person think all anime is as good, when few are.

Outlaw Star is a great starter anime too.

Both versions of FMA are great anime intros.

Most Gundam series are pretty good (I'd suggest 0083, because it's the best, and only 13 episodes), and would be a good choice if a person is into science fiction.

I'll post more if I think of any.

Assuming that they think it is good. Not everyone thinks Cowboy Bebop is good or deserves the recognition it gets.

As for which anime to use to introduce them to the media. Hmmm I would say that it is all relative. I would start with something from a genre that you think they would enjoy.

Maybe Death Note. Cowboy Bebop or Rurouni Kenshin. I don't know guess it depends what kind of person it is you're introducing too.

Completely agree. I guess my answer would be ask them what they like i.e. If they like action suggest Black Lagoon, Berserk, Noir etc. If they like Drama/Action Last exile, Claymore etc. If they like Comedy/Action Samurai Champloo i guess it all depends on the person and their preferences

I'd say Hunter X Hunter since it has action, adventure, drama, and a bit of comedy in it. And it's characters are all well detailed.

The original FMA in english dub. Its the perfect length, the dubbing is flawless and its a little bit of everything (mystery, drama, romance, action).

Well duh. Interests differ, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't offer ideas, and instead, give a half-assed reply saying that it depends on the person, or what their interests are, and not actually contribute anything.

Usually when I decide on a series... I usually pick something that will really stick out... I chose Elfen Lied because they will not be expecting the gruesome deaths and violence and will quickly realize that all anime is not for kids... I also picked Rumbling Hearts because it was an anime that really had depth not only in the story, but a realistic relationship stress... Easy for a drama junkie to accept... One thing I really make sure to do is show the person the most beautiful anime that comes to mind... Something like Air Tv... Or maybe The original Gunslinger Girl... I showed a girl Air Tv and the first the she said was, "Wow... This is pretty!! Look at their eyes!!!." But of course its nice to have a personal preference of the person though...

Too lazy to type one myself, so pulled this from IMDB:

I said it's not for everyone, just because of the general nature of the anime. Read up a little on it (or watch some of it) and see if it's something that even you yourself would be interested in.

imo start them off on some random generic crap that isnt bad enough to turn them off, but isnt so good that they become stupid and think the first series they watch is the best ever (aka the narutard effect)

dont start em off on bebop, its a great series but if you start with the legends then its got no where to go but down.
random generic stuff, just a sampler.

and do not start them off with currently airing series, then they become skeptics of anything older, and thats a bad habit for alotta anime fans nowadays
imo

True! Just let them watch Akira or Grave of the Fireflies. That will hook them. A good series would be something like Lodoss or Urusei Yatsura.
