Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the best horror film ever imho... It's like being dragged through the sewer, never gives up and has never been equalled.

Oh, I saw Hostel the other day, it was crap.

I was shocked to read you hated Dawn Of The Dead, until I read you recommended Stephen King movies. Then I realised you were a fool ;)

What Dawn Of The Dead btw, considering there's the original by George A. Romero (which I love) and the remake (which is actually okay)?

Saw and loved.... Versus, Night of The Living Dead (original), Day of the Dead, Dawn of The Dead (both of em), Underworld (a lot of people hate it, but I'll defend it with my dying zombie breath) and a host of others. I really posted just to ask about DOTD :D

I loathed Shaun Of The Dead, and all Stephen King movies. The latter because I'm a fan of his books and nobody has EVER made a decent movie of one ;)

Suspense scares me. I find gore funny and I'm a natural psycho.

I'm looking forward to "The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue", "Forest Of The Damned", "Vampire Effect", "Evil Aliens" and "Living Dead in Tokyo Bay". Not really new movies but I just got em.

Old movies...Nosferatu

What about Stand by Me and The Shawshank Redemption? The Green Mile was good too. Not horror movies but still good movies.
Apparently the script for The Mist (one of his best novellas) is a cracker. It always read like a great basis for a horror flick and I'm surprised it didn't get made sooner.
His new novel, Cell, about people being turned into zombies by mobile phones would also make a good film by the sound of it.

As you said, they aren't horror movies and this thread is about horror movies. I'll wait with baited and skeptical breath about the others.

I mean where did you hear the script for Mist was good? Studio advertising maybe? Plus there's many a long road from script to finished product. As for Cell, a lot of his horror books would make great movies but so far, imo, they've been screwed up.

Too right. Bloody abysmal. In fact, I'm tending not to bother with much US horror these days. It's all too teenage and gore focused. I much prefer a good ghost story, but they're pretty rare out of Hollywood these days. Gimme The Others, The Orphanage, Dark Water, Kairo, and whatnot any day over Hostel and Saw.

The premise for Hostel would make a fantastic horror/thriller but Eli Roth wasn't the man for it.That is a future remake I would welcome.

As for ghost stories, they are possibly the only kind of horror movie that name film studios are actually good at,sometimes.

I'm bored of gore, although a still love a well made zombie film. There isn't enough of them being made.

Gore, violence and torture are such a bore. No wonder the BBFC banned Grotesque. Not because it's scary, but because it so blinkin' boring. Seen one nail through the hand, you seen them all.

Seen one eye plucked out, you seen 'em all. And so on and so on...

Um, but the gore is only a relatively small part of Hostel. The first half of the film is about the three boys back-packing across Europe. I think it's the strongest part of the film, as it develops a sense of unease gradually: the apparent resentment of the Americans, the encounter on the train, the feral kiRAB in the impoverished town, the Asian girl who looks worried.

Similarly the Saw films are more about psychological torture than physical torture. I think some people are disappointed with them because their expectations are wrong.

Do not bother with FInal Destination 3..Im still annoyed that I saw it..the 3d was good but that was it. Orphan was really good. I still love Halloween..still scares me.

Saw and loved.... Dead Set,Resident evil extinction,Hills have eyes remake,the devils rejects,30 days of night,Halloween remake,The ruins,Halloween 2.

Saw and loathed...Bug,Saw 3,4,5,Skinwalkers,Twilight,Day of the dead remake.

Scares me.... Haunted true stories or ghost movies.

Upcoming.... The Road,Daybreakers,

Old films worth watching.... Romero's Dawn and Day of the dead,The Haunted(1991),They Live,The Thing,Stephen King's IT,Nightbreed,Poltergeist,Demons,The entity.
