Best Horror Films and Upcoming Horror Films

Just for a matter of interest, has anyone seen Wrong Turn? I thought that was quite a good film!

Also, does anyone know what that film is that is about a group of youngsters who are in a car, but suddenly start getting chased by a madman in another vehicle? I remember it being heavily previewed at the cinema but when it was eventually released it wasn't out for long. Its not Jeepers Creepers that I'm thinking of but the beginning is quite similar.

Just edited to say that I think I might be thinking of Joy Ride? I might be wrong though.

As for horror films that really bother me, I found The Grudge really frightening. It was the sound effects that got to me the most!

For a really bad horror film, Cherry Falls takes some beating in my opinion!

Loved:
Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter... a classic (Caroline Muroe... mmmm, )
Underworld... Kate Beckinsale... mmmm
Horror Express... Peter Cushing: "Monsters?! We're BRITISH!!" :D

Loathed:
Practically anything from the US in the last 15 years except Scream 1... Drew Barrymore... mmmm

Looking Forward:
Underworld 2 and/or Van Helsing... yes, I know they're supposed to be rubbish, see earlier comments
Wicker Man... I live in constant hope that Hollywood will finally get a remake right.

The Descent is a very good Brit Horror flick.

I also really liked the remake of Dawn of the Dead which was much better than I thought it would be. Great pacing, well acted, good story extremely well edited...In comparison to the awful 2005 Romero Land of the dead.

I generally think that 90% of horror movies are utter dirge its only the odd few that actually contain any true horror. I generally despise generic American teen slasher movies, none of them come close to John Carpenter's Halloween or the original Friday the 13th.

Other goodies: The Wicker Man. The Exorcist, Exorcist III. Evil Dead II. The Omen.

The original version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is being shown this Friday night on Channel 4, I can't wait. I wonder if they will show it uncut? Let's hope so.

Well there's hardly any gore in it and most of the violence is suggested so I can't see why not - I don't think it got cut the last time.

My faves - Evil Dead (orignal), Exorcist (original), Dawn of the Dead (original), TCM (original), The Thing and most recently The Descent
Cautiously optimistic about The Hills have Eyes remake, Omen 666 and even Silent Hill could be worth a look

Tigerboy, the mag in question is DVD World - not sure if it's still going now after the publisher went down the swanny

Joy Ride was called Roadkill in the UK and it could be the one you mean. I thought Wrong Turn was rubbish btw. Sorry! Hopefully the new Hills have Eyes will be better.

Which horror films have you seen and loved?
The Wicker Man, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), The Exorcist and Exorcist 3.
Also the Romero Zombie films (especially Dawn of the Dead)

Which horror films have you seen and loathed?
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake). A good first ten minutes which desended into horror cliche hell.

What type of horror scares you? (gore, suspense, psycho...)
Some gore, mostly suspense. Suggesting something is happened is often more frightning than full on gore.

What upcoming horror films do you know of?
The remake of The Wicker Man - I am not keen on remakes but I will watch this out of curiosity.

What old horror films are worth watching?
Anything that has been directed by Romero or Argento.

I don't HATE Dawn of the Dead, I reconsidered. I haven't seen the original either so I am not really qualified to say. I do like Stephen King books and SOME of the films are good.

Which horror films have you seen and loved? Saw, Exorcist, Blair Witch, The Wicker man, Texas Chainsaw ,assacre, Driller Killer, I spit on your Grave, Last House on the left, The Hitcher, Halloween, The Hills have eyes
Which horror films have you seen and loathed? Jeepers Creepers 1&2, Blair Witch 2, Cannibal Holocaust
What type of horror scares you? (gore, suspense, psycho...) Suspense I prefer cerebral over visceral any day of the week.
What upcoming horror films do you know of? The Hills have eyes remake (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
What old horror films are worth watching? Suspiria, Inferno, Psycho,

I saw this last night, I didn't really have high hopes for the third installment but aside from some of the lousy cast I really enjoyed it. It is definetly one for the suspense and gore lovers.

The lead female was good and I warmed to her straight away, I wasn't keen on the lead male but he improved towarRAB the end.

I was really jumpy through the whole film and as I was making my way home I was left with thoughts such as "Am I meant to die on this bus?".

Excellent.

Horror films i love are.............

The Exorcist - It's a classic, one of he best horror films ever made, well i think it is. I have trouble going to sleep now, thanks to this film.

The Blair Witch Project - It all got me scared when Josh went missing, but i thought the beginning sucked.

The Exorcist 3 - I enjoyed this film because i knew what it was all about and i knew what the demon was doing etc, and it scared me a bit.

Exorcist The Beginning - Sarah scared the hell out of me when she turned into a demon near the end of the film, alot better then that junk Dominion.

Dawn of the Dead - 2004 - great film
Saw and Saw 2
Final Destination - only for the death scenes, same with final destination 2 & 3
Scream, Scream 2 but i have to admit even though i enjoyed scream 3 but i still thought it was a bit boring

Horrors ive seen, loved and am still scared senseless watching is Amityville the Possession, Halloween, My Little Eye, IT.

Asian horror scares me, always gets the right mix of suspense and usually a good climatic ending. The Less they show you, the more creeped out you get!

Upcoming films i know of and cant wait for are:

When a stranger calls
An American Haunting
The Ordeal (Calvaire)
Pulse

The one old horror film which really stanRAB out is the original "The Haunting film", you dont hardly see anything but what you "hear" its really really scary. I cant watch it alone! Another old film which isnt a horror but always has me creeped out is Black Narcissus.

I considered watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre on 4 but ended up watching Gregorys Girl on IT3 instead... I digress

I got a really bad copy of this when I was 16 way back 1990, and I am convinced that when the van load of kiRAB stop by to get something to eat, one of girls is chewing on her Burger and says something like "Urgh...whats this... its a fingernail" and pulls out a fingernail from the burger and throws it away.

I since bought the special edition and even though ive watched it a few times, there is no mention ofa fingernail...

a) Did I blink and miss it?
b) Is the dvd cut?
c) Did I invent the whole scene?

Can someone please put my mind to rest.

I thank you.

Loved: The Exorcist and The Exorcist III (the official sequel and not that drudge with Richard Burton) / Ghost Ship / Cabin Fever
Loathed: Zombie movies all of them
Scares me?: Psychological
Upcoming: The Wicker Man and The Fog look good

The Legend Of Hell House unnerved me when I first saw it back in the seventies. Saw it recently and it still gives me the shivers also The Haunting (original black and white version) is a scary film. One film I've seen time and time again and always creeps me out is The Innocents (1961). I urge you all to see this film if you get the chance. The only modern film I've seen that was quite scary was The Grudge. I guess I like the films that rely on the suggestion of horror to build the terror. Gross out films that rely on buckets of gore just make me laugh

Which horror films have you seen and loved?
Saw, Alien, The Descent, Seven (if it counts)

Which horror films have you seen and loathed?
most teeny horror movies - Jeepers Creepers, I Still Know What You Screamed About Last Halloween type stuff..

What type of horror scares you? (gore, suspense, psycho...)
suspense and psychological horror definitely - I never realised I may actually be claustrophobic until I watched The Descent (the monsters and gore were certainly not the scary part!)
sad thing is though, nobody seems to be any good at making horror movies in this way anymore... it's all gore and loud noises..

What upcoming horror films do you know of?
Final Destination 3
a film version of Silent Hill is in production at the moment... I REALLY hope they don't screw it up!

What old horror films are worth watching?
Alien, without a doubt... that one really set the bar

I saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) the other night just by chance, so I thought I would watch it as I hadn't seen it before. I REALLY enjoyed it - gotta say it's down on my favourites list!
