Best Guitar Solos

Ugh... gotta go with the real cliche here and say Stairway to Heaven. It's not even like the official version is that epic, but the one on the concert film blew me away.

Hmn, if you guys want an incredible guitar solo, then Frost's Black Light Machine is the one to hear!! :finger:

(The solo starts at the 2:57 mark)

Some really great moments throughout the song, doesn't hurt that Captain Beefheart is on vocals.

For now, just in the context of the two guitar solos I mentioned (Serve The Servants and In Bloom, and there are 2 or 3 others), my interest is in the way he snuck atonal skronk at earshattering volume onto top-40 radio.

These are the best solo's ever and make sure you listen all the way through. top quality! It's a little offensive too.

I think that any list with "best" in the title if listed by individuals is naturally going to be completely subjective. Everyone has different taste in music, and what might be a splendid, technically sound solo in most respects may still not sound all that great to everyone. Likewise, some solos may not be the most dynamic, but they may evoke a stronger emotional response from some people than others. Ah, music.

Here is my entirely subjective list of guitar solos:

(In no particular order)
Phish - Run Like an Antelope
Richard Thompson - Gethsemane
Queen - Innuendo
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Manic Depression
Trey Anastasio - 18 Steps
Gov't Mule - Thorazine Shuffle
The Allman Brothers Band - Jessica
The Grateful Dead - Terrapin Station, Pt. 1
