Best grooming/hair care products for African American little boy?

Hi! I am buying presents for kids at a "boys home" (orphanage). One 12 year old boy has specifically asked for "hair grease". I want to get him something nice, grooming products he will enjoy using. I have heard that hair grease cloggs pores and isnt as great as other hair care products available. Can anyone tell me the best products available that I can get for this little boy? Something simple that he can figure out how to use for himself? (He is only 12)
 
my little brother is 13 and he uses Blue Coconut oil on his hair. other hair products that african american boys use is murray's and sporting waves. they're basiclly hair pomade and you're supposed to put on your and then put a durag on top of it. it makes your hair soft and shiny and it makes this really cute wave pattern that guys think are so cool (they really are). try getting him a durag, a hair product, and maybe a boar bristle brush. i promise he'll love it. hope this helped.
