Hey neighbour lol, I live in the same province.
What size of tank do you have? They can be kept with mainly any peaceful fish like tetras, gouramis, barbs, swordtails, mollies etc (hope you get the point).
I would personally get a group of 6 small tetras like neons, or maybe some white cloud minnows, or some galaxy rasboras etc.
Depending on the fish, you could probably pick them up for under $50 for 6 of them. If you want to send me a PM and let me know where you live I can probably recommend some good pet stores. I am a member on an alberta forum so I know some good ones from advice and experience.
