what is the best, more interesting fish i could house in a 30 gallon aquarium. not little fish like guppies, but like cichlids or somethn like that. i already have a tank with convicts so not them. what are some choices
Ok if you want a peaceful cichlid then the yellow or green severum are great because they are extremely interesting and they can get along with anything except neon tetras. These severums will splash water and do funny things to get your attention. I Community fish I find very interesting are gouramis (the pearl are more docile while the gold are more aggressive) and the bosemani rainbows (as they grow they change colors). I also found some cool koi swordtails that put in my tank....havent seen them before but if you can find them then their cool fish cause their rare.
Now stay away from Discus because you have to change water twice a week. As for cichlids....I dont know much about them but make sure you ask the store if they will get along. Cichlids are very aggressive and they will nip at each other...so when getting cichlids...they will get more torn up as time goes on. Cichlids are also very very sensetive to water conditions.
And as you know....remember to set up the cycle and once that is done....a gallon of water for every inch of fish. So you could get 30 neon tetras if you wanted for example. Hope this helps!!!
