Star Trek. It's my #1 because I was never a huge fan of the show but I loved this film and I never expected to enjoy as much as I did .It was just exhuberant to watch and the cast of mostly unknowns really made the roles their own.I'm looking forward to getting the DVD next week
Jackassfan, your film choices have been of much interest to me over the past months- how on earth do you find them?!? I've added a lot of your top picks to my lovefilm list! Have a good Xmas!
Gran Torino may be the best, along with the one about the concert standard busker (can't recall the name at the moment).
Enjoyed Star Trek, Fish Tank, The Wrestler (Rorke was outstanding in this - maybe the best bit of acting in the year, better than I thought he could be) & Slumdog (which will be a Baanl Holiday staple before long). None of these will be 'must see again' films - maybe but wouldn't make a big effort, certainly won't buy.
Overall Best Film of 2009: Star Trek Horror: Martyrs (followed by Let The Right One In) Comedy: The Hangover Sci-Fi: Moon Drama: Gran Torino Animation: Up Comic Book(Okay, "Graphic Novel"...): Watchmen
Biggest Disappointment: The Wrestler (apart from Mickey Rourke's admittedly brilliant acting, it was basically just a rehash of Rocky...but less interesting)
