TOP TEN

(Just outside the top 10: Das Boot, come and See, Ambush)

Best WW2 movie for me is Patton (how many other war films have won oscars?)
Best modern war film... tied between Jar Head and Black Hawk Down.
Best pre-20th C war movie... no contest - Zulu.

I'm a huge fan of Full Metal Jacket - I could quote from that film all day long!

M*A*S*H is also a great film - Donald Sutherland rocks in this film (as well as Kelly's Heroes).

And Schindler's List also makes my top war movies list.

Oh and I also love Zulu - even if Michael Caine's posh accent is a bit rubbish at times :D

Did anyone see The Thin Red Line? Anyone got any idea what the story was? Or was it just about loaRAB of famous actors being in it?? Disappointing.

Gunga Din
Beau Geste
Sergeant York
The Buccaneer
The Boys in Company C
The Big Red One
Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il / The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Patton
The Longest Day

I've never been able to watch SPR all the way through, too dull.

I agree with Paths of Glory and in the same anti-war spirit with the same type of storyline the obscure King and Country with Dirk Bogarde and Tom Courtenay.

Got the super long version of Das Boot to watch, about 4hr 42 minutes.
Have seen the theatrical and directors cut, love the tension and atmosphere throughout the film, along with the score so decided to get the uncut, just gotta find the right time to watch it without disruptions.
