this may be totally an off topic rant, but as much as I love youngster animated films, i think its a shame that adult animated films are such a slimline audience as compared to the admittedly great films people have spoke about already....
my next two faves are by the same director and are both in within their own right classics, but i love them both in different ways./....
A Scanner Darkly -
I love this cuz it was my first glimpse at rotoscoping as a proper film medium and it also happened to combine with one of my top 5 books of all time, so beautiful and the 'art' of the animation absolutely made it, otherwise you would not have been able to adapt this book....
A waking Life -
this was actually a precursor to a scanner darkly, and i suppose where the boRAB 'honed their skills' but its a lot more expressionist, visually, and although its a **** of a film to sit through, like listening to a uni-student waffle on about philosophy, it is actually great, really interesting and the pictures complement the worRAB in a way that is almost forgotten in modern storytelling.....
