Best European animated series'?

A lot of my favorite animated films are European, like the Wallace and Gromit films and Fantastic Planet, but the only series I'm aware of is Code Lyoko.

I figured since the French/Belgian comic industry is so big, there'd be tons of animated series too.

"Marsupilami"/"My friend Marsupilami", "Argai", "Monster Buster Club", "Around the world with Willy Fog"/"Willi Fog 2", "Saban's The Adventures of Oilver Twist".

Well, as far as animated series based on Franco-Belgian comics go, I have to confess that I harbor certain fondness for the 90's adaption of Tintin and Blake & Mortimer. They're not as good as the comics they're based on, but are still quite decent, if you ask me.

I would also recommend Night Hood, which takes Maurice Leblanc's archetypical gentleman-thief, Arsene Lupin and puts him in the 1930's. Thoroughly enjoyable show, with a very charismatic main character.

Prdgn: I meaned "Marsupilami"/"My friend Marsupilami", witch had been producted by Marsu Production, TF-1 and Marathon Media from 2000 till 2002 (52 eps, 2 seasons). This great animation series based on Andre Franquin comic books.
"Adventures of Tin Tin" - one of best Europe animation series too.

Wallace and Grommit although i hardly consider England part of Europe.

As for continental productions i guess Pigeon Boy, Corneil and Bernie, Pitt and Kantrop etc and Tintin

probably a few i'm missing but my memory is terrible

As a fan of Franquin's "Spirou", the comic in which the Marsipulami first appeared I've always harbored deep loathing for the "Disney"-series, which in my opinon butchered the character. I could be more specific, but I do not wish to derail the thread further.

Atomius: "Wallace & Gromit" is great. However, I was under the impression that this thread was only for animated TV-series. "Wallace & Gromit" is a series of short-films, with several years between each new installment. Of course, it's possible that I misunderstood the thread's title.

If you want to see some of the best stuff Europe has to offer, track down Shakespeare: The Animated Tales, The Canterbury Tales, Animated Tales of the World and other such series from the Welsh channel S4C.

They're not the most original shows out there, being adapted from well-known literary sources, but since each episode is done by a different studio (covering everywhere from Britain to Russia) then each one's a great cross-section of European talent.

My favourite is Animated Tales of the World (based on folktales) but alas, that one seems to be the hardest to get hold of, even in the UK...
