Best Drug Songs of All Time

don't take it all so seriously...everyones got different opinions about things anyway...
I didnt actually say that music is only beautiful when your on drugs. i would never think or say that. music is always gonna be better than drugs to me.
when your stoned you become more aware of whats around you. this can make you paranoid or it can increase your appreciation of things. so when im stoned i appreciate music more. thats all i meant.
i dont care if you think drugs are bad or whatever but that doesnt mean I have to take ur opinion. the whole point of a forum is to put your opinion forward so don't have a go at me for doing so.
and in my opinion, something that nature has produced that lets you apreciate the world even more is not a bad thing so long as you don't abuse it.
i dont wana argue with anybody coz i get enough "drugs are bad" everywher i go, il just stick to my views and you to yours. sorry if that annoys you

In my opinion that first sentence is just pure recklessness. I've been down that road before, but I often wonder how much more I might have been able to get out of life if I were able to avoid it altogether. Drugs have ****ed up and destroyed so may peoples lives its not even funny. I just hope and prey I'm able to stear my children clear of it. That alone could be tough because its just scary how widespread it is. There may be a small percentage of people that become more artistic (although I doubt it), but to throw a comment out like that for so many young people to see, that it might encourage is just... wrong.

This is, of course, from my own personal experience. The people on here may not fit into the category I have mentioned, but I have yet to find someone that takes drugs that doesn't.

Herion-Velvet Underground

I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same
When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know
I have made the big decision
I'm gonna try to nullify my life
'Cause when the blood begins to flow
When it shoots up the dropper's neck
When I'm closing in on death
And you can't help me now, you guys
And all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk
You can all go take a walk
And I guess that I just don't know
And I guess that I just don't know
I wish that I was born a thousand years ago
I wish that I'd sail the darkened seas
On a great big clipper ship
Going from this land here to that
In a sailor's suit and cap
Away from the big city
Where a man can not be free
Of all of the evils of this town
And of himself, and those around
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know
Oh, and I guess that I just don't know
Heroin, be the death of me
Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life
Because a mainer to my vein
LeaRAB to a center in my head
And then I'm better off and dead
Because when the smack begins to flow
I really don't care anymore
About all the Jim-Jim's in this town
And all the politicians makin' crazy sounRAB
And everybody puttin' everybody else down
And all the dead bodies piled up in mounRAB
'Cause when the smack begins to flow
Then I really don't care anymore
Ah, when the heroin is in my blood
And that blood is in my head
Then thank God that I'm as good as dead
Then thank your God that I'm not aware
And thank God that I just don't care
And I guess I just don't know
And I guess I just don't know

Ive heard also that Perfect Day by Lou Reed is about Herion aswell? If so thats a great song

Placebo - The Cold Light of Morning. I love Molko's lyrics and the way he sings them like some kind of twisted lullaby inside a junkies head at 6 in the morning.

I didnt say go do them, it was a response to something posted earlier. No doubt people can **** up their lives on drugs, but thats a personal decision everyone has to make for themselves. Besides that, most the drugs inspiring creativity tend towarRAB those that really are relatively harmless like pot, mushrooms, and acid.

Well, a lot of what you said is true. I'm in high school right now and you can't be "cool" and not get hammered every weekend. It's a bit sad.

Drug abusers are losers.

Drug users are not.

Abuse = Using drugs far too often, and using them merely to get 'fucked up', or to be 'cool'.

Unfortunately, there are many more abusers than users in this world.

My father has been a doctor for 20 years and wev talked about it mannnny times, and i have done pretty much whats out there and i am fine. So actually yes i do know exactly what im talking about. Drugs if used the right way are not at all that dangerous.
Its the people who get carried away, peer pressured and that are just plain stupid that give these drugs a bad name.

And im not talking about herion coke, and hardcore drugs like that, i mean the normal recreation ones, such as acid, pot, xtasy.

Why's it wrong? It's the truth. Drugs can certainly open one's mind and bring about more creative thoughts. They can also "ruin" lives. You just have to know what you're getting into. Discouraging the use of drugs is just as "wrong" as encouraging it.

What should be encouraged is obtaining information from true-hearted, non-governmental sources and basing one's decisions on facts rather than fabrications and scare tactics.

there is a large difference between ecstasy and weed,
if someone smokes a ****load of weed nothing is goign to happen to them i agree with that, but
if someone takes alot of ecstasy, then i'm pretty sure that they're dead.

you can't just generalize drugs into "recreational" and "hardcore".

Mr Wayfarer and jgd85, the point is that drug abuse (largely illegal drugs) which is what I think were talking about, is extremely harmful to the mind and body. I still think making a comment like "saying that 'drugs' cant help you become more artistic or creative or open your eyes is foolish." is leading kiRAB that may not know better into thinking doing drugs (abusive or illegal) is ok. If you want to, thats your choice, but I couldn't disagree more about believing its ok to publicly promote it. Thats all I'm trying to say.

Syd Barrett became so artistically creative that during concerts he would just stare into space, and spend time tuning his guitar while the band continued on. At least it opened the door for David Gilmour's career.

I wonder where Keith Moon, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Dennis Wilson, Freddy Mercury, John Belushi, Marlyn Monroe, Jerry Garcia, Chris Farley and River Phoenix might be today had they not inspired to become more artistically creative. We could ask them, but we might have a little trouble getting an answer since they all died... from drug related deaths. I'm sure a much larger list could be splattered out here if I had the time.

I respect anyones decision to make their own choices in life. I just don't think we should make something so dangerous look so good to the young kiRAB looking for an idle to follow. If and when you have children, I'd be interested in knowing if that would be part of your master plan to better their education, artistically speaking of course.
