If you currently have NO Nimiq 2 programming you are eligible for the Installation of this Upgrade anyway, due to you renting an HD Receiver and HD Programming which is carried on Nimiq 2.

I did not wish to give the impression that I got a deal. The post before mine was in July so I thought I would update with what ExpressVu is offering current customers today. I didn't threaten to leave, I simply wanted HD as soon as possible. I ordered it today and it is supposed to installed Thursday (my new TV is to be delivered the same day).

Great! I'm sure you will enjoy your new TV and HD programming. Let us know how the install goes and your impression of your favourite channels!

I'm an existing customer for 6 years, and finally called yesterday to inquire about an HD and Dish upgrade.

On on 1 year contract, I got:
$20 per month - 9200
$10 per month - HD Programming - free for 6 months
Free Installation - including cabling for a 6000 in a different room
1 month programming credit

I went for it.

I have Digital plus 12 theme packs and movies so I'm paying 92 I think. Plus the installer gave me a coupon today for another 90 credit in programming (15 per month x 6). Not sure if it is usable or not as it says can't be used with any other multi offer...

Anyways, the install didn't go sowell, I don't have 82 SAT on the 9200 and the even transponders don't work on 91. The installers were in a hurry to leave I guess, but they are coming back Thursday evening.

I called BEV twice, once to have the 9200 activated and upgrade to HD and 2nd time to get service call. I was very impressed with my last 3 phone calls with BEV. The installation wasn't there fault, so atleast they are trying? Now I just have to wait for the bill to be correct. If the install would have gone off without a hitch, that would have been like 28 hours from order to install.

Sorry, am I missing something on the whole Sports3 package?

I care less about 24hr soccer.
The Fishing Network...yeah ok.
Wild Tv...not really.
The Fight Network...yeah ok.

I definately want Sports1, not interested in Sports 2.

What's so special about Sports 3??

It does not sound like the installers did their job correctly at all.

A receiver should never be left unactivated at a customers, by you having to call in to activate the receiver, Express Vu could have made a note that it was a self installation, therefore depriving the Installation Company of payment. Not that they should be paid anyway.

Do you have 82 degrees on your other receivers.?

If you do, then until they return, I would be changing the connections at the SW44, unless it is out of reach......

PM, me if you need any assistance with this, I will walk you through it.

There is nothing special about Sports 3 at all.

It was mentioned originally as a way to get the Upgrade Kit installed for free or close to it.

If you are an existing Customer and Upgrade to add any programming from Nimiq 2 you will get the Upgrade Kit installed for free or close to it.

Subscribing Variety 3 theme pack also triggers the free Nimiq 2 upgrade.

Or even just the Catholic channel (Salt + Light) on it's own at $2.50/mth.

Are you suggesting that someone with the following setup:

-> round dish @ 91 + two receivers (3100 and 6100 - obviously no HD channels)

can get the free upgrade by subscribing to Salt + Light gets a free upgrade? What other channels/options can you "opt" for instead of Salt + Light?

What do you tell the CSR?

-gmd

Tell the CSR you want to suscribe to Salt&Light and tell them that you only have one LNBF...they will advise you (if they know what the package is, cause not all of us know it since we don't sell it that often) that you need the upgrade kit, that you need to put charges on a credit card and it will be credited back on your next Express Vu account.

You need to keep the porgramming for a minimum of 6 months

You are a very patient and forgiving man. Bravo. Many of us would want the work done right the first time, including the billing. They have, after all, 1.8 million customers to practice on ahead of you. Will these "last 3 phone calls with BEV" be the end of this install / change of service event?

Try doing a "check switch" (menu-6-1-1) on both receivers. It might help but maybe not. It will also point out any faults.

A patient and forgiving man is someone who waits 2 months for an installation to be started after numerous missed appointments and calls to EV. That's what happened to me once. I even had to call to get credit for the time I did not receive service. My patience has worn thin.

I'm really not that patient, I was really PISSED that the installers didn't do their job well and actually test the 9200. The reason I mentioned billing is because in the past whenever credits were involved, it was very difficult to get what was supposed to happen.

I am glad to report that the service call was completed right on time Thursday evening, the cables were switched on the switch.

I'm happy now that I have my dual tuner and HDTV.

The problem was it wasn't seeing the switch, I kinda new what the problem was at the switch as the other receivers (5100,6100) seen both satellites and all transponders.

I agree you are a patient and forgiving. 2 months! WOW.
