Im sorry if i missed the thread on this. I currenlty own all my BEV gear dish is about 10-15years old it was here when i moved in. I got a 2700,3100 and 5900.

I just spent 20minutes with a bell CSR who put me on hold 5 times for every question i asked. She insisted she could help me when i offered to call another department as i felt i got the wrong person... Anyway im not bitching about the CSR i had the time and she was polite and tried to get me the info but it seemed a bit off.

Here is what she offered me after 20minutes of digging.

option 1
$20 rental for HD PVR(thats the one i want)
$10 for HD channels
$95-$180 nimiq upgrade out of my pocket
+install costs?

option 2
$20 rental for HD PVR(thats the one i want)
$10 for HD channels
$8 for Sports 3 (wich would give me the install for free in form of credits)
$95-$180 nimiq for the upgrade but this would go back as a credit on my acount so out of pocket upfront but get it back later

So im confused as i have never been under contract with bell i just took over the old equipment when i moved in. Seems to me i would be better off canceling and signing up for brand new service

As luck would have it bell tech was out to look at my phone line today(need new line to the box 70m away) He suggested to me to cancel and have my wife subscribe for new service under her name. He gave me his handout flier:
$100 start up kit(credit back on account)
-2 months free
-$54 credit towards programing and equipmetn on my 3rd month bonus
-$10 payperview credit.
-i can only assume the same $20 rental and $10 channel prices after the 2nd month is over?

I tried going through the bell website(what a head ache) but the first thing that i found was a 102$ for HD extra with no ability to downgrade the package. IT includes stuff i dont want like movies and 6 themes instead of my current 5 themes. IT doesnt allow me to customize the package. Im paying 53$ now so from my math im looking at 83$ in the end.

Sorry again if this has been addressed. I never know if i should go to a bell world store or call to get the best deal. I have no intrest in paying for anything at all other then rent and monthly service. Seeing as how i have never had the luxury of being a "new customer" I simply took over old gear 6 years ago

Your final sentence is something that is rarely told to customers and I for one am glad to see you use it here on the forum.

Failure to keep HD or any Nimiq 2 programming for the minimum 6 month period, should result in you, the customer, being charged the full amount for the Upgrade.

OMG ... I think I under-covered a loop-hole. :D

6 mth sub to Salt+Light at $2.50/mth = $15

Value: full Nimiq 2 upgrade, more or less, re-imbursed ($150ish?)

Dare I say it? Praise the Lord! ;)

I doubt that they will give you the Sports 3 for free...unless the agent had it in his notes!

Both of us referred to Sports 3 "Nimiq 2 upgrade/install" as free, not the channel package.

I just ordered HD from Bell and this is what I was offered:
Digital Standard $31/month
HD PVR rental $20/month
HD Programming $10/month (6-months FREE)
5 Themes $20/month

Total $81/month plus taxes.

There is a $100 installation charge for the new dish but that gets credited back to the account.

I am now on a 1-year contract.

Installation is Thursday afternoon.

I was prepared to order Salt & Light but it was not necessary nor did I have to order Sports 3 (I am keeping my original 5 themes which did include Sports 1).

Yep i got the same deal, been a few weeks now and my Maxent 42" looks alot better now with a good HD signal

As an existing customer, I signed up for HD about 3 months ago and was offered the following:

$20 rental for HD PVR
$10 for HD channels (free for 6 months)
Free installation of dish upgrade

I had to agree to a 1 year contract to get the items above. I'm also assuming BEV gives the free installation to avoid current customers switching to another provider for HD.

As a side note, I don't subscribe to the Sports 3 package.

Cantley you don't need to take the Salt&Light or Sports 3 since you are taking HD Value pack which requires the upgrade kit...

That promo is a promo for EXISTING CLIENTS ONLY!

A new client that signs and chooses an HD receiver will get free install of the upgrade kit, but WILL NOT GET the 6 months of HDprogramming free. He would only get the usual new client offer, which is now credits of
10$/month for 10 months

Check out this offer. Threaten to cancel the service and see what EV offers.

As an existing customer, I upgraded to HD back in December '06 and got the same deal as Coryl28 (2 posts up). I thought it was fair--about $200 worth when you consider the cost of paying a technician to upgrade the dish, and the 6 months free HD programming.

And to be honest, even if I hadn't been offered a deal, I still would have gone with ExpressVu simply because of 9200 HD PVR which I personally believe is way above the rest compared to the others available in Canada.

My 2 cents!

In fact, existing customers get a better deal. Everything is the same except you only have to lock in for 1 year rather than the 2 years a new client is stuck with.

Thanks, Agent Express V, for the additional info. Not sure why others seem upset about it.

Thanks so i should settle for not less then:
$20 rental for HD PVR
$10 for HD channels (free for 6 months)
Free installation of dish upgrade
1 year contract to get the items above.

This puts me at 83$ to get the rental and the hd channels and keep my pick 5

The following is basically the same only im taking sports3 in place of something out of my current 5 theme packs total montly looks to be 81$
Digital Standard $31
HD PVR $20
HD Programming $10 (but possibly free for 6 months)
Sports 3 $8 (triggering free/discounted install of Nimiq 2 wiring)
or add 4 more theme packs (total 5) for $12 more (aka 5 for $20)

Thanks guys i have some ammo when i call back.

Um, that's full price that everyone pays according to the brochure. The 6 mth $10 off for HD programming is also a standard "offer" for existing customers. Same with the "free" HD install -- you pay upfront and get a credit back.

I'm not saying you don't get good value -- that's in the eye of the beholder -- but it's not a "deal". (I'm not sure you were implying you got a deal either, so no offence intended.)
