Best Child Performance in a film

actually didn't think I was gonna come up with many, but reading this thread there are a few!

DEFINITELY the boy from 'The Champ'...really disturbed me, seeing him that distraught.

The girl in 'The Exorcist' must've been pretty good tbh...um..

would then also say Freddie Highmore in Finding Neverland.

Haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine or Whale Rider all the way through, only clips, but AB and KCH looked good in them.

Well in Man of Fire she is brilliant but she basically is not on screen lots of the time, as its mainly shot from the John Creasy angle. Her performance in I am Sam blew me away, in many ways as I really felt she had an amazing connection with Sean Penn.

David Bradley in 'Kes'.

Also (in Kes), a mention for the little boy who goes to the headmaster's office to give him a message and enRAB up being caned on his hanRAB. Awww.

Agree with Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver.

Elijah Wood was vey good in The Ice Storm but he might have been about 15 or 16 if that still qualifies him as a child actor.

But the best IMO was in a film I constantly rave about: Aleksei Kravchenko in "Come and See" (again aged around 15 or 16 at the time.)

Put me down for Aleksei Kravchenko's acting in Come and See, who really added to the horror and desperation of that film. Also Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver is up there for her difficult role in that film. River Phoenix in Stand By Me also comes to mind (the other three played the roles, fine, too). Ivana Baquero also neeRAB to be noted for her acting in Pan's Labyrinth.

Dakota Fanning - Man on fire
Natalie Portman - Leon
Haley Joel Osmont - Sixth sense / AI
Oksana Akinshina - Lilya 4-ever (I fell across this movie late on BBC2 one night and couldn't go to bed until the end great actress. She also appeared in Bourne Supremacy as the daughter of the Russian couple Mat Damon killed)

Did you know that little boy was actually caned for real? Saw him in an interview a few years back (obviously he was grown up then). He said he didn't realise he was actually going to be hit and those were his real tears of pain!

He got paid about sixpence for it!
