Best Chain lube for a standard-street bike?

Looking at buying a 83 Suzuki GS750ES. I don't know if it needs to have the chain cleaned and lubed but I thought it would be best if I did so. What would be the best lube to do so?

I use a bellray lube that includes silicone. No chain lube will clean a chain, but you can do this with kerosene and a stiff plastic brush, lube when you are done.

many chains use 0-rings and the wrong type of lube may damage the 0-rings and cause increased wear on the chains causing them to wear out faster, and a proper formulated lube will stick and adhere to the chain so the lube won't spin off and hog up the back wheel.
What good is it when you lube the chains and most of of the lube will spin or fall off after the first mile you ride it?

I use Bel-Ray Chain Wax
