best camera for wildflower photography?

I love taking pictures of wildflowers. My *ancient* Nikon CoolPix 775 produced the best close-ups I have ever found, including some rather high-end, expensive cameras I've purchased. Unfortunately, the 12 year old dinosaur has finally expired and repairing will cost more than I can afford to spend at present.

I'm looking for a simple, easy to use camera (no fancy lenses to purchase separately, etc., please) that can capture the tiniest details of a flower, whether it's dew, a small bug, or the ridges on a petal. If my old $50 camera could do it, I'm sure there must be a new model out there that can duplicate my needs without getting into high-end equipment.

Can anybody recommend such a camera?

Lots of cameras have macro capacity, I've found, but that doesn't necessarily mean they take good close-ups. To give you an example of what DIDN'T work for me: Nikon CoolPix L110. 15x zoom, macro capacity, 14.1 megapixels, and it still gives me blurry pictures when I try to get in as close as I did with my old CoolPix.

Price range: $300.

I'd appreciate feedback based on your own personal experiences, rather than what you've heard or read, if at all possible. Thanks so much for your help
