So we have a believable source: http://www.mania.com/adv-films-offers-buy-exclusives_article_116106.html

Best Buy will be selling exclusive complete collections of different ADV titles throughout the month of July, beginning with Gantz, which saw its release today, the 7th. The Gantz collection is actually the two "season" thinpak sets previously released by ADV packaged together. This time, however, they are priced at $29.99. If memory serves, the sets were about $59.99 or $69.99 individually. The Gantz Perfect Score Collection was $89.99, and the Gantz Complete Collection is/was $69.99. For anyone interested in trying out Gantz, buy it now! $29.99 is a steal for this fantastic series. Just be sure to pick up the manga after finishing the series, preferably at volume eight (to be released in Noveraber) or nine, as it picks up after the third arc in the anime.

Next week, Blue Seed and Cromartie High School will see complete collections released. On July 21st, it'll be Godannar and Samurai Gun, with Mabuaho finishing off the month on the 28th. I have yet to see what any of the sets besides the Gantz Complete Collection look like but will specify the description and price when I have the information. Granted, this isn't very exciting for anyone who has previously purchased these series, but I think it's a great idea and hope to see more releases like this.

Godannar collection I definitely might look at.

Even if its old stuff, I'm still happy to see ADV getting some releases out there and sticking it out.

I'm surprised that Funi didn't buy up all of ADV's anime especially Godannar. If I get it, I hope that it's around $39.99 but I'm fine just waiting for the SRP to drop.

I think ADV is mainly focused on their remaining library and re-packaging and pushing it out to the public.

In 2008 at an ADV panel, Matt Greenfield would talk about how all they would do is repackage a complete series boxed set and sales would spike. His conclusion, repackaging works.

Godannar? Sweet!

Interesting strategy they're implementing with this deal. I hope to see more things like this in the future.

The anime section in my store continues to grow. My store did not participate in the diminishing of anime selection, as we do quite well with our anime. Many of my regulars are anime fans. When I was farming the DVD section the other day, whether I wanted it to or not, the anime section took over one whole side of an aisle and one four-foot section on the other side of the aisle. There are now very few titles in the anime section that do not have their cover showing. That's fine with me, as I feel that it is easier to sell a cover than a spine.

I managed to sell one of my regulars a copy of the new Gantz collection, and I believe that I can say he's addicted. He is already thirteen episodes in. Who else wants a third season? Who else?! Raise 'dem hanRAB!
