Best Buy NOT stocking Gurren Lagann part 2 DVDs

As I explained in the other thread, Amazon's nurabers are less than reliable. It's a hybrid between current sales + absolute sales. Individual titles can jump +-20,000 spots in dvd rank, every time you check. Looking at the Anime boxset list, titles can jump anywhere from -+150 spots in the space of an hour. A handful of sales at any particular time can apparently skew a titles position significantly on Amazons list. Not super useful.

In general a titles sales will spike from release day until it reaches a maximum, then falls off exponentially, until it plateau's.

I don't think doing well on Amazon, TRSI, and RACS is good enough to make up for losing the shelf space on the biggest Anime retailer.

I used those examples because their is a definite disparity between the level of 'fandom' for certain titles (going by several metric's, ANN's lists, fansub download info, forum buzz, etc.) and the apparent level of purchasing.

Quarkboy says it more clearly in this post.

I don't always buy things in the order they are released. I do buy though. Most 'fans' dont. That is the problem.

Here is an interesting post that has relevant comments.

So what prevents you from walking into a Best Buy and special ordering it?

Trouble with Reading Comprehension? I argued no such thing. In fact, I have explained to people in this forum on multiple occasions how to special order from best buy using only cash. FAIL.

Best Buy doesn't do in-store special orders, KZK (at least not in the case of the One Piece 3rd Voyage box and Ouran vol 2, which I've asked about repeatedly).

You HAVE to order them online. I've checked several locations, all the staff I've talked to corroborate the policy.

Basically what Kenjisalk said, you can't special order something that the store doesn't stock.

Also how about the fact that I prefer to have the DVD in hand than rather go through the hassle of waiting for it to come special order, cause I don't know they could screw me over. I go to a store to expect them to have the product in hand, and then go home to watch the DVD I want. I laugh at the motion of having to special ordering through the store cause if I wanted that, I would have stayed home and order elsewhere. Screw that, I'll just go to the bank and deposit money in my account to do that. That is something I would rather do than going to special order through the store.

Yeah, I live in a metropolitan area. If I can't find new anime DVRAB here, the industry is screwed.

I sincerely doubt Funimation, Bandai and Viz can keep going at the release rates they're at, with only online orders and digital downloaRAB/streaming episodes.

Ok, That was poorly phrased. Best allows you special order in store for Home/mailbox delivery.

1. In store kiosk.

2. Ask a sales rep to help you order an item. They Will.

3. This price will reflect the in-store pricing, which in a lot of cases is significantly lower than the bestbuy.com price.

4. Must have a mailing address.

5. I've explained elsewhere how to pay using only cash.

6. For people without a CC it is probably the best/only way to get certain titles.

They will special order / transfer from other stores for replacements instore.

Awfully pesimistic view but it's true losing Best Buy is going to cut down the anime industry significantly and even very popular titles (much less niche ones) are in big trouble because of it.

The Ghetto Best Buy that I sometimes go to had Ouran Volume 2, which is pretty surprising. The Anime section was definitly gutted. What was really surprising was what they didn't pull. The other surprising fact was that they apparently gutted other sections even more than the Anime section, as they moved what was left from the Anime section into more sections (with huge gaps all down the aisle).

Anything you can find in the (western washington) area at Best Buy... you'll be able to find at Fye. I got Hunter x Hunter, Gurren Lagann Set 2 and One Piece 3rd Voyage none of which Best Buy was selling.

I'm not sure if that's true for the MD Wal-Mart since I continue to see Bleach: Memories of Nobody: The Movie, Naruto volume box sets and the films, Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl Box Sets 1 and 2, etc
