Best Buy NOT stocking Gurren Lagann part 2 DVDs

I think that is already happening. I am a mostly a sub fan mind you, but it is sad to see dubs (which I thought were getting so much better) get a major scale back.

I agree, I'm mostly a sub fan too, Damn, and just when English dubs were actually starting to sound fantastic they get a major push to the back

My thoughts exactly. Just about every time I would step into my local Best Buy for whatnot, whenever I would check in on the anime section, there would be this overabundance of special edition boxes and just a few volumes of the same series stuck between them.

With such an unbalanced amount of stock between the special edition and the regular dvRAB---and not to mention the high prices retail stores label anime (Suncoast included)--- this is why I think it's best to stick to shopping on the net for anime. It has never failed me as of yet in terms of satisfaction.

The reason why no one is buying the naruto boxes(which also have huge Special version boxes) is because you can get them for a far more reasonable price at Wal-Mart. (which actually had moribito last I checked).

Wal-mart has the best prices on Naruto, DBZ, and I think they have bleach as well.

EDIT: They also have One piece, and the prices are beyond rediculously good.

EDIT 2: Yu Yu hakusho as well!

Blarg... this is bad bad bad. Hopefully online sales will be good enough to keep FUNimation, Bandai, etc. in the black.

Yeah, I have to wonder how much of their sales are going to hurt due to this. I can't imagine online sales and whatnot being enough to keep them going, as a company.

Yep yep. It baffles me why Best Buy even tries to sell Naruto boxsets for double what Wal-mart will sell them for. Heck, most of the time I get anime from Best Buy stores I usually have to go home and do a price check, since BB tenRAB to sell higher than online. Only FYE charges higher around me.

I don't know if anyone noticed but a Media Blasters rep is posting over on AoD/Mania forums concerning Moribito. He had this to say about Best Buy:

"BB is going through a lot of changes and hate to tell you the bad news but BB makes up the largest percentage of DVD sales for the publishers. I really do not think this is a secret so when BB says they are cutting back on anime this is a big deal for everyone. You will still have online and B&Ms like Transworld, Frys and such but they can never make up for the loss of BB. This will have huge implications in 2009."

Other than Wal mart Right stuf seems to be your best bet. I went into best buy a while ago and the anime section was cut by at least half. I think bandai and Media Blasters seem to be the only ones cutting back on dubs and Bandai loves to charge loaRAB of money for no reason at all anyway. Soon I think that the only Bandai shows getting dubs will be the high profile titles and the ones they can manage to get on tv. I think that things will get better if ADV ever manages to get back on their feet again. Another niche moe title from kyoani might not cut it for their comeback.

Yeah, that's bad...but not really surprising. It was pretty much a given that the economic recession would affect niche markets like anime.

I really don't know about you guys. But the Best Buy I go to (Everett and Lynnwood) has several Bandai releases.
The Girl Who Leapt Through TimeToward the terraCode Geass etc...They just want to make room for upcoming releases, that's all.

A lot of people claim to be 'fans' of certain shows (like One Piece, or Ouran), but when push comes to shove, they will not buy. Proving that their 'fandom' is a lie.
