Best Buy NOT stocking Gurren Lagann part 2 DVDs

GL and CG have two discs. I actually like this practice, as it allows them to spread out premium items for an affordable price.

You mean "Invader Zim" type shows.

Also, about the Best Buy thing...proves that we really need to give the media more attention to Anime more than we thought.

All I'm hoping is that Best Buy releases the last 2 volumes of Lucky Star (the last volume should be released in March, way before Best Buy changes shift), and I can sigh happily.

In better news, I went to Wall-Mart yesterday, and guess what, I saw the first 3 volumes of Pani Poni Dash!, the first two volumes of Lucky Star, the first season of Full Metal Panic, and a volume of Karin.

Wow. That's all I can say.

The Gurren Lagann singles are both not $50 and canceled. The 'Part' packs for Code Geass and Gurren Lagann each contain ~9 episodes, and the $50 version comes with something cool.

The two disk Packs are the good ones. Singles and Super SPecials do nothing but absorb shelf space. The things that should be online-only are the Super specials, and singles should be phased out all together.

Hm, well I don't buy online and I enjoy getting LEs for series I really like. Using that release plan, I wouldn't have been able to even buy a box to hold the series. For the final LE, I'd have to buy the Best Sound CD separately. Sure, anime doesn't sell anywhere near the same amount of copies as more mainstream stuff, but the whole point of "Special Editions" is to make more money off of popular properties. Making things like that online-only just cuts profit in half. For example, both FYE and Best Buy lost a sale from me because the first store only had the RE of GL Part 2 and the other store didn't have either.

Also, they already phased out the GL singles.

Singles are okay for some short series but we've gone the way of the boxset and so should the rest of the industry that's lagging in that respect. And special editions should be the first items to become online only as the audience for such is far more niche than the standard editions. Making the next 2-pack set of GL online only really makes me weary of buying even part series sets...

I had the same problem as well, but it just wasn't Gurren Lagann!

I also couldn't locate the new $30 Berserk Boxset at my Best Buy, same with the first box for Hunter x Hunter. =[

Yeah, every time I've been to a Best Buy (there are several in the immediate area), the Ouran and One Piece sets are always $39.99 (I've bought them all on release day, and see them every time I go shopping there).

My Best Buy has always been a mixed bag. Sometimes it's cheaper than I can get online, most of the time not. I could get Guyver individual volumes and Witcrabroadlade for 20 bucks each new, generally better than most places online. However, a lot of sets like Naruto sets were priced at list and stayed there.
