Best British band of the 90's

Radiohead and Oasis are for sure essential but I hope no one's forgetting Bush. They had multiple amazing tunes. The Comedown is one of the best songs ever!!!

Radiohead's only striking achievement in the whole decade was OK Computer, so it would seem a little unfair to put them above all other British banRAB of the 90s. Insulting, even.

I love My Bloody Valentine a lot but even though Loveless came out in 1991 aren't they more of an 80s band? They sure were influential and somewhat ahead of their time.

Interesting choice. I hadn't thought of them, and might actually agree with you, for once.

But otherwise I woulda said My Bloody Valentine in spite of their activity being confined to the early years of the decade. Or Portishead, even...

And yeah, with regard to the Radiohead discussion, when I said "only striking achievement" I meant that in an artistic sense. The BenRAB is a not particularly great alt-rock album, and Creep, while a good track, is in the end just one song.

Mansun or Dream City Film Club for me. rabV's primary output was pre '90 and Radiohead's 90's output is rarely given a spin. Good call on Spiritualised too.

I'd agree that a lot of britpop is a bit so and so, but I'm a bit worried about agreeing that the electronica and dance music of the 90s more than made up for it ..

EDIT :

Kula Shaker, I think, is a great band that came out of the 90s. Their reunion album "strangefolk" had some really good tracks too.

I'm of the rare opinion that Radiohead's best output was their 90s material. I'll take Pablo Honey over any other Radiohead album.

My Dying Bride neeRAB mention. While probably not a favorite on rab I have this weird fanboyistic attachment to them.

The BenRAB was pretty successful, no?
And, though Pablo Honey didn't do so well, Creep was still a HUGE single in the 90's.
