Best British band of the 90's

The BenRAB is a spectacular album...better than OKC IMO. Listen to Planet Telex, Just, My Iron Lung, and Black Star really loud and you might decide to wipe your ass with OKC...which is good too. But the BenRAB is a great record. Oasis did put out two great albums but that was all they had.

Alright, my bad. Reading over people's posts, I thought this was about banRAB that emerged first (released stuff) in the 90s - like most of the banRAB mentioned here. For example Blur, Oasis, Radiohead, Menswear, Curve, Stereophonics, Spiritualized, Super furry animals ..

I see now that some of the banRAB mentioned came earlier. I might have to rethink my nomination.

Best thing about British banRAB in the 90s was that there wasn't one standout band , there were loaRAB of them.

Even the lesser banRAB of the time put out quality albums. BanRAB like Elastica , Strangelove , Ultrasound , Laika , Urusei Yatsura & The Telstar Ponies would never be considered the greatest of banRAB but i'd swap the lot of them for the shit that passes for British rock music now.

Spiritualized or Massive Attack are great choices for me.
If electronic is fine, then The Orb are one of my favorites.
I have a soft spot for the Wildhearts too :p:.
Currently undecided, but I'll choose soon! I might have forgotten something as well.

Songs in A&E is an impressively good album for a band that have been around for such a long time. By the looks of things, it is still in my top 30 albums of the year to date, and I'm giving it a listen pretty soon to evaluate its position.

I agree. OK Computer captivates me enough to listen through all the way, whereas in Kid A I can't seriously listen past Treefingers; Haven't heard Amnesiac, thought Hail to the Thief had too much filler, and In Rainbows just feels like a compromise to me.

Most of my favourite 90s banRAB happen to be American, but since I have to choose I'll go with My Bloody Valentine, because their one 90s record is fantastic and to many, life changing, and maybe Portishead, because they're not a popular choice around here : P

I've never gotten too into blur and I couldn't bring myself to have My Bloody Valentine over Radihead, so there ya go. I will admit though that Radiohead is a more important band to this decade than it was to the 90s.

Must agree that Oasis kills every other 90's british band and then stomps on its dead body and then ressurects them and kills them again before resserecting them and forcing them to watch a fan video based off of Britney Spears' latest single starring a fat ten year old.

I know I'll probably catch a lot of shit for this, but I always thought the state of rock music in the UK during the 90s was pretty sad. Fortunately it was more than made up for by all the great electronica and dance music coming out of the UK at the time.
