Best Bluray Movies

Actually just ordered the first pirates movie :D would have ordered the trilogy except i dislike the second movie and REALLY dislike the third.

Casion Royale was the first blu ray I watched and I am still blown away at how crystal clear it is.

My OH bought me Pans Labyrinth and Watchmen but haven't got round to watching them yet...I will certainly make some time for them after the reviews on here though! :D

I picked up Band Of Brothers blu ray today...been debating about it for a while...almost picked it up a few days ago when I saw it in HMV for 25 quid in the sales...I think I paid twice that when it first came out on DVD!

But then today I was shopping in my local Sainsburys and saw it for 19.99!

No brainer.

Had a quick look when I got it home...and wow!

Excellent picture, as long as you accept that in parts it is supposed to look grainy, but the sound! A new DTS track that is one of the best I have ever heard. Bullets whizzing all around the room, great low-end bass, and the music sounRAB superb.

It also has a new picture-in-picture feature, and a timeline feature as well specially for blu ray, as well as all of the previous extras.

I just bought my first hdtv 40 " sony bravia and hooked it up to a ps3 and watched my first blueray - 2001 a space odyssey - my gust is truly flubbered how beautiful it all was especially for a 40 year old film -amazing picture.

Today I'll be watching Zulu on blueray.

I would like to add "The Wizard Of Oz" to the list

I just got it on blu-ray & even though you are forced to watch it in the 4:3 aspect. the picture quality is for lack of a better word stunning.

The best scene would be when it moves from sepia to color in one shot. My jaw hit the floor.

So how was Zulu? as good as they say?

I recently watched these on bluray:

Matrix trilogy - all fantastic, sharp, spectacle filled. specially the sequels.

Something something dark side - very colourful indeed!

District 9 - had a fantastic, sharp, but gritty look

Zulu was amazing the skys and the lanRABcapes were just beautiful - It is like watching new films again.Only thing was it was so clear you could see the rubber bayonets :D

Just watched Stardust - WONDERFUL movie - Very old fashioned, light characterisation, but it had a wodnerful light touch, a great sense of humour, and some fantastic ideas an effects. It looked beautfiul as well.

I dont have a huge fondness for that movie, but my dad does, and when I bought him that for his bday, he was astounded at the picture quality. the aspect thing didnt seem to bother him in the slightest.

Rented inglorious basterRAB yesterday, btw , watched it up at my mates house, and it was genuinely picture pefect, really top quality, crisp picture.

I've got all the Pixar releases Cars, Ratatouile, Monsters inc, Bugs life (US import), Wall-E & UP (HMV deleivered early:D) and they are all stunning, Cars colours and sound are definate demo material.

Others worth looking at

Casino Royale
Star Trek
Transformers
Watchmen
King Kong
Close Encounters
Kung Fu Panda

Saving Private Ryan has been announced for April, hopefuly it gets a Braveheart transfer and not a Gladiator!

I picked up the Bourne trilogy on blu ray for 25.00 the other day. Pretty good deal I thought, as they are the full hi def versions, with DTS tracks and all of the extras from the standalone versions.

I am not saying they are outstanding in terms of pic quality - they are very good but not quite reference quality. but all 3 for 25 quid is not at all bad.

Looking forward to this, got it for my son for Christmas. When you say we are forced to watch it in 4:3, what do you mean. It's original aspect is 4:3 isn't it?
